Trying to understand

I think I have so many programs going thru my head and I am just getting so confused. all I know is that my weight loss stinks, I'm stuck and I want to find the right way so that I can get on track and get healthy.
I am 41, "try" to walk a few times a day, I do have a desk job 40 hours a week, and I am going to start some weight bands in the evening. I'm shooting for 3 days a week and work up from there.

I was talking with a Health Coach yesterday about Medifast. I really don't want to have to spend the extra money like that. I know I can do this with my own meals. I think where I am getting the most confused is exactly how many calories do I need. Currently I am stuck at 165 and drop a few lbs and gain them back. It's been this way for 2 years now. If I could just get to 159!!!!
My TDEE is 2015 and my BMR is 1465. Body Fat % 45.6
So do I shoot for 1550 and stay at those calories?
The 1200 is not doing it for me. Plus I tend to eat below that a lot. I have my protein and fat set at 30% and carbs 40%.
I was speaking to my cousin who is going to a diet center and they have her eating no less than 80% protein?? That seems like a lot.

I'm just confused and could really use some help or guidance

I'm 41 too...lol...The biggest bang for the buck for me was truthfully recording everything I eat...this led to getting measuring spoons, a little scale, changing to turkey sausage from pork, etc...Walking 30-60 mins a day 3 times a week is sufficient too. Besides those, a lot of patience. Honestly, I don't worry about what percentage of my food is protein, carbs, etc.

kay dont waste your money these things are gimmicks and when you loose the weight and go back to eating the way you did you will put it on again. eat fresh veg fruits lean meat and think of this not as a diet but a healthy way to live, good luck youl get there.

Getting my head back on .....bought some groceries this evening with fresh veggies and fruit and wanting to kick off tomorrow all good and healthy eating again :) So yeah.....my latest diary entries are yuck

Wish I could say that magic word to get you back in the swing. Sorry it's sucky for you right now. That was me two years ago. Miserable, I stopped trying to lose weight and just hung in there for almost a year. I knew if I could just get my head right, the drive to lose weight would come back ('course I gained an additional 10 lbs while I was "on vacation" that way). A few months ahead, I decided that after Jan 2012 I would begin in earnest. I planned it out in my head, thought a lot about how I'd do it, talked hubby's ear off about what I needed to do, and geared myself up for it. And I began the first week in Feb -- something just clicked in my head -- I've been going strong ever since.
Don't waste your money on liquid diets. Do you know anyone on the planet who has been able to keep the weight off with that kind of eating? I don't. I agree your food diary still has a lot of processed foods and refined stuff in it, high sodium and empty carbs. It's hard to turn your back on that stuff but it's just plain bad for you.
I'm glad to hear you're stocked up and ready to try again. You've made a good step in the healthy direction with fresh veggies and fruit.

I have to agree with the other ladies; skip the Medifast and clean your diet. I was a big 'easy food' eater too, and have just recently started eating more naturally. I've actually gone Paleo, but you might choose a different method.

Logging your calories is the most important thing, and give yourself good food for energy. Before I started logging my meals here I went from 235# to 195# (whoo hoo!) by portion control and learning to LOVE one big salad/day, plus eating fruit and yogurt instead of chips and ice cream.

My next goal is to make it to 145#, and hopefully with 3xcardio and 3xStrength/week I'll get there.

    YOU CAN DO IT!

Eat more fruit and veg, you have had no or one serving on many days instead of the recommended seven to nine. And processed potatoes feature heavily.

80% protein seems like a lot. Do you mean 80gms of protein?
