HRM gives such a high calorie burn

So I just got a Polar RS100 HRM and when I work out the calories are way higher than what the elliptical machine or MFP says. A 45 minute workout will say I burned around 625 calories while the elliptical machine says around 450. I'm not sure if I have my HRM set up wrong but if anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it!

Make sure that you set up the HRM with your personal stats....gender, height, age, weight. It may currently be set for a large man. lol. I also adjust mine every five pounds or so. :)

It could also be accurate. The machine you were using uses a very generice guesstimation.

I personally take MFP's calorie burns as the standard to judge everything else by. If the HRM is within 50 calories of MFP it is probably right. But I would take whatever showed the lower number just to be conservative.
