Me, I used to be not at all.

Today listening to sports talk radio they were talking about torn ACL's.
I wanted to be sick.

I don't know when this happened but I can't bear to think of any kind of injury.

For reference? I cut a large chunk of my thumb almost completely off. I sat there and watched it pour blood as the local anesthesia slowly kicked in to stop the bleeding, watched the Doc clean it with saline, then watched it be sewn up, even though the nail. I've also witnessed some pretty nasty motorcycle related injuries, but it really doesn't bother me.

So, no, not really squeamish at all.

I have gotten so much better since I've been a mom. Honestly I gag the most often over kid poop and my husband's freaking farts.

Unless it's eye surgery with a conscious patient, I'm usually pretty good.

LOL, if the stitches went through the nail it wasn't a "big chunk". :P

    Mixed.

Medically related, I'm fine so long as it's not burn related.

Otherwise, I'm not good with vomit, or anything that is slimy.

I'm not very squeamish in real life, there's a lot I can handle (including assisting the doctor when he was stitching up my son's lip, and the debriding of my then 18 month old daughter's face..she had 2nd degree burns).

The two things that I can't deal with are vomit...it makes me vomit, and talking about anything remotely gross while I am eating, I will gag.

Sounds like me..I have 2 gashes in my arm from cardboard cutting knives (surgically sharp). They didn't bleed at all because they went past that layer of skin, it was rather fascinating showing everyone how deep they were. I'm one of those people who are fascinated by wounds so if someone hurts themselves I always want to see how bad it is! I used to watch things like CSI and all the crime shows where they were doing forensics investigations during dinner...

Unfortunately I have had to stop because my boyfriend can not stand the sight of blood, wounds or even the thought of someone hurting themselves to the point where if he cuts himself I have to take care of it because he will pass out. He can't butcher meat either. Funny enough he doesn't mind pain at all, just not the other stuff that normally goes with it.

This would be me. I am squeamish when my kids are hurt badly, but on me I am not at all. My Dream Job was being a coroner.

Watched my fiance put a razor sharp knife through his wrist accidentally while opening Christmas gifts. Cut the vein, 4 tendons, and the nerve completely off....blood sprayed across all of the gifts we had opened and had yet to open. Everyone else one was gagging and passing out, but I had a kitchen towel wrapped around his wrist, and 911 on the phone.

Not too squeamish about blood.... But I can't change a diaper yet :P

I'm not squeamish as far as talking about injuries like torn ACL's, etc. If it went into gory detail, I might feel queasy.

But boogers gross me out, or my nephew wiping his runny nose with hands then grabbing my hand, nose picking. Gag. Stuff like THAT grosses me out.

I'm SUPER squeamish and always have been. When I was little my sisters favorite game was to tell these nasty stories about boogers until I would throw up, which wouldn't take long. My kids enjoy the same little game these days. It's stupid, I literally can not even hear a story involving bodily fluids without losing my lunch.
  • I caught my finger in drawer awhile back and for 10 minutes sat there helpless and waited for a coworker to pry it open in order to save my finger. It felt like a century passed. I watched someone step on my foot playing volleyball and break his right ankle not inward towards his other foot but outwards to a 90 degree angle. Both did not bother me that much. However, anyone barfing or making a dry heaving sounds makes me fall apart like an Ikea night stand and I will be sick immediately.

my squeamishness varies as well. I don't like to watch injuries, hear about them or read about them. i don;t even like watching things on doctor shows that i know are fake.

but if something happened in front of me, i would not be squeamish - i would be in "help" mode.

I was just talking about this with coworkers this morning. I'm not squeamish generally. Vomit, blood, broken bones, diarrhea, nasty grossness after tonsillectomy, snot, etc no problem. Having both my boys in this last week ask me pull a tooth...ugh. I grabbed the tooth and when it was all wiggly and wobbly, it made my stomach turn. Go figure.

Not at all. Im an RN now and a former paramedic and active duty military...which basically means I can pick up guts off the road and then go eat a rare hamburger with ketchup and not think twice.

Not very - former EMT and currently a CPR/First Aid instructor. Blood, vomit, and other body fluids don't freak me out. The only thing that makes my stomach churn is open fractures or when flesh has been stripped away from the bone (like at the tip of the finger). Ugh, yuck.
