So today I hit 365 days logged on my fitness pal. It wasn't until about a month into it that I started getting serious about focusing on what I was eating (who starts eating healthier at christmas time??)
I have only lost about 40 lbs in the past year. Started this journey at 230 lbs. ended up in the hospital twice with hernia complications and finally had surgery may 31. Both times, i had to quit exercising for weeks. After surgery, i was out of commission for a out 12 weeks. Sadly, I think I may be developing another but I hope it's just scar tissue.
Anyways...these are my pics (if I get the nerve to actually post them). I have so far to go, but I'll get there eventually. Thank you to each of my MFP friends who inspire me, enlighten me and kick my *kitten* when I need it. If not for you guys, I'd likely have drifted far from here long ago.

I'm totally not a success yet either. In fact currently I've backtracked to halfway between my lowest logged weight and my start weight. I could've been at goal by now, but I'm not. But am I better than when I was before I started MFP? Absolutely. We will all have slips and road blocks, but the important part is to stay with it. 40lbs is a lot! I'm sure it shows (post your pics girl!). You are healthier than you were last year and that is a great thing. You are a success because you are not 230 lbs anymore, you have more to go but it doesn't mean that you didn't succeed. I have to tell myself that, too.0

Yes you are a success you recognized a problem and changed it, sounds like you picked yourself up at least twice this year...
From now on it will be easier, because you know how to do it
Congrats0 -
Post those pics Erin!!! You should be very proud of your accomplishments!! You've been a rock star this past year!0

There are no pics on here that i can see...but its okay..reguardless the title of this shouldnt be "1 year on mfp no success" because you could very well still be 40 pounds heavier right now...sooo take this as a success and keep going!0

ONLY 40 pounds? 1/4 of the year you were out of commission, and you didn't start for the first month. ONLY 40 pounds?!?
ONLY?
Shut up!
You're over half-way to your goal, too, by the way.0 -
Hi Erin
I just read your post, and in doing so feel it's helped me through my slump to date. Feeling a bit low. One of my MFP friends says it sounds like I"m at a plateau and feel she gave me some great advice. I'm really hoping it works for me. I've been on MFP for 6 months now and have lost 20 lbs. I started this journey by just saying I am going to give it ONE year and see what happens. I've been fine with that, but now at the plateau I feel it's no use.
Did you ever hit a plateau that lasts 5 weeks? I'm doing what I can when I can (inspite of a couple of physical compications), like yoga and some light cardio at the gym. I wish I could REALLY push it!! LOL
Any way I do want to stick with this program, am just wondering if you ever had such a long plateau in your journey here?
By the way,...I still need to lose about 44 more lbs. Ugh!
