Lost weight but feel fatter than ever?

I don't know if this is all in my head, maybe it is. This is my first week here on MFP and I'm really excited about it and it's easy to follow! But I'm also discouraged I lost weight according to the scales but I feel as if I've gained body fat, =/ Anyone got a similar situation? I'm gonna stick with it, I just hate knowing I might be back peddling I can't WON'T Go back.

No I stopped, I was for about 2 months but my body wasn't "coping" well and I was advised by a doctor to stop

I find that the more the scale goes down the more critical of myself I become. You might just be overanalyzing yourself (which is a crappy feeling, I know). If you really think your body fat % is going up, have it measured with calipers every month or so and watch the trend. Strength training will also make you more happy with your overall physique - you'll tone up those flabby areas that are bothering you.

ETA: If you can't do formal strength training, try pilates or calisthenics? I'm not sure what you're permitted to do, but muscle toning's really important.

how tall are you? A goal of 133 for a male seems ridiculous at any height, I am 5'6" and at 148 when i graduated HS i was scrawny.................

Since you just started, I would highly recommend taking measurements if you're not already doing so. I've lost 20 pounds and still feel all jiggly in my midsection. I've started strength training to help with that.

In another post you said you are 5'11"...you need to speak with a doctor, your weight is certainly not the issue....

I'm wondering if the reason your body wasn't "coping" well had something to do with not eating enough calories. For your age your calorie goal seems low. If you're losing muscle then you may begin to feel flabbier, even though you're losing weight. You look to be fairly thin and it looks like you've lost quite a bit of weight in a short time--unless I'm reading your ticker and your start date incorrectly. Be careful with losing too much too fast. Maybe ask your doctor or a nutritionist for a diet plan that takes your activity and exercise goals into account. Good luck to you!
  • Yes, whenever I stop lifting weights, the scale does go down slightly and I do begin to notice a negative change in body composition. Just shows how people seem to attach too much significance to the scale. Losing 5 lbs of WEIGHT does not necessarily mean you're going to look better. A tape measure tells a better story.

My dear, i have to agree. I just peeped your diary and you are drinking 17 glasses of water a day. That is definitely not advisable- do you know what can happen if you do that? Well, dangerously low sodium levels causing mental status changes and seizures for one requiring hospitalizations. It appears a good 33% of your entries are "I can't Believe It's not Butter." You need more substance in your diet.

Perhaps you are feeling this change in your body as a symptom of another problem. You appear very skinny in your picture and yet you verbalize that you feel very fat. I'm guessing there's another reason that your doctor advised you to stop exercising and you and I both know what that is.

Regardless love, myfitnesspal is not the place to come to have a daily eating disorder orgasm. Posting in forums on here about how fat you feel is offensive to those of us who are medically advised to lose weight. If you aren't ready to face your disorder, and I say "your" because it truly is only yours alone, then please take your anorexic fodder elsewhere to sites that are down with that.

My best wishes to you in healing and recovery.
