Forks over Knifes

I just finished watching this. I agree with a lot of what they had to say

Yeah, I do too. Are you thinking of changing your diet?
  • I thought it was a very interesting documentary as well.

I do too! It makes you think, especially with the amount of research that went into it (and the fact that a lot of it was done so long ago, and still holds true). I am a vegetarian, so I do a lot of the diet/lifestyle anyway, but I do eat eggs and dairy...and I honestly can't give them up, so I just eat in moderation. The whole issue with Casein freaked me out a little, especially because my family eats a lot of cheese! So...."food" for thought
  • We went from a family that drank 6 gallons of milks in two weeks to half a gallon of milk in two weeks! Haha! Yeah.

Forks over Knives wasn't the first to shed light on the Casein issue. It's been in several things I have read up on. I had read about it before and the problems it can cause, but for some reason it took Forks over Knives to hit home.

This movie definitely helped to change the way I eat. I'm not a vegetarian, but I do now eat a plant-based diet and about 90% of the meals I eat are unprocessed. I've also switched to almond milk instead of regular and it's been an awesome change for me :)

We mainly do cheese/yogurt and drink alternative "milk!" I have had raw cheese, but not milk (you have to buy it directly from the farm here). Though our local HFS sells a brand that is as close to raw as they can legally sell. I do buy my eggs pasture raised...the difference is incredible! The yolks look like gold rather than pale yellow (expensive, but we don't eat a lot, and it is totally worth the money!)

Before jumping head first into the plant based diet people READ the article posted above - it explains that the movie is not being entirely honest with you in this respect - surprise surprise.

Wow, it took me most of the morning to read through that, but it was really interesting. Thanks for sharing!

Forks over Knives is a reference to the fact that you should try to battle/avoid diseases by eating right (Fork as a symbol) instead of letting it come to the point where you have to be cut open by a surgean (hence the Knive part)

Uh and I watched this movie just the other night and it impressed me! I did not go vegetarian or vegan by all means but I cut down fat and I eat about 70-80% vegan now!
