Planning Tomorrow Or Way Ahead?

I am a huge planner and I've sort of mapped out the next six months fitness wise. I'm training for my first 5K coming up in February, so that's something I'm working toward, and another one in May for my birthday. Plus, various other things that I want to work on.
What I'm wondering is if you guys plan that far ahead. I like to have those smaller fitness goals ahead of me to keep me motivated.
I'd love to hear what works for you!
Also, it's always fun to have more friends for motivation and support! Feel free to add me!

Hey Kate. It's what works for everyone hon, and if that is what works for you, go for it. Me? I think the weekly monitor is better. I know that if I work hard five or six days out of seven, the seventh day, maybe I am entitled to a rest. I think your six month goals are very admirable, and so long as you enjoy the challenge set, and don't let them overwhelm you, I think you will love and meet every challenge you set yourself. So to answer your question - it's tomorrow
Best of luck -- you won't need it! 0 -
I think it depends on the person of course. I tend to plan out just my week, but I do have a rough idea of what I'll be doing beyond that. I am starting a 12 week fitness program so I'll be doing some form of exercise 4 - 5 days a week for the next 12 weeks, but I only have the specifics for this week.
If I planned out every day, it would be even more overwhelming than it already is. I tend to want to do everything, so it's hard for me to narrow it down. If I had a big goal like a 5k or something, then of course I would plan in advance, but I don't really have any specific goals yet. I'll be happy and proud of myself if I can just get started in a fitness routine.
Your profile pic is really cool BTW! It's a nice way to look back at progress for sure!0 -
I tend to 'roughly' plan my workouts at the start of a week: although this mainly consists of assigning running/lifting days/my weekly rest day. It certainly helps, as I have a bad habit of not giving myself a rest day if I don't, and it means I know roughly what I'm doing during the week for meal planning. I don't have 'set' days for my running length (I do a long run, a 10k and normally a timed 5k in my three days a week) though apart from my long run as I'm not overly keen on doing 15K + in the dark, so that gets set out for a sunday morning normally.
As for food, I do a weekly plan at the beginning of the week (mainly for shopping purposes), so I know roughly what we're having- but we rarely stick to it to be fair. However, saying that, I do plan for the next days food the night before. I find if I pre-log everything it means I can have a rough calorie count in my head if anything unexpected comes up. I tend to find not only does this keep me on track, it also keeps me sane- I can get a touch obsessed with counting calories, and if I know roughly what I'm eating in a day I don't panic about say grabbing a coffee with the other half, or being offered a biscuit/slice of cake from a friend- I know if I've got the calories, and I also know where I can tweak the calories towards the end of the day to fit things in if needs be.0
