So i was browsing a clearance sale on summer dresses and i spotted a long beautiful spaghetti strap dress. Omg i loved it. at $8 you cant go wrong so i bought it. Now im a size 1xl and i bought the dress in a size medium. Im hoping by summer i can wear it and wear it beautifully. You can call it my summer goal. Has anybody ever done this..?? Were you successful..?? Or what are your thoughts..

I've been thinking of doing something similar for a few weeks now. I'm a 22 jeans and I'm tempted to buy a pair of 16 skinny sexy jeans to try and get into for my birthday night out next july.
It can go both ways I guess, motivation and then you beat yourself up if you don't get into it in time. It's all about attitude I think.0 -
I just did this with a pair of jeans a few months ago. I refused to buy the next up, a 16. I know it's not quite the goal you are talking about but they fit now so I'm happy about that. I still have my skinny jeans in my closet and I hope to be in them by the summer they are a size 8.
Good luck on the summer the dress you should post a picture of you in it this summer.0 -
Haha. In March, I went to a CAbi party (designer clothes trunk show). I was wearing a size 12 at the time and I bought a pair of pants (not cheap) in a size 10. I told myself that I would not waste money buying the size 12 when I fully expected to lose at least 10 lbs. Well...haha...I am now a size 6 and can't wear those damn size 10 pants. NSV I guess. Please post your pic when you fit that dress, if it isn't too big. :laugh:0

If you've never been a size Medium as an adult I'd say this might be foolish and could break your heart. If you know that is your healthy weight size, you've been there, there's no reason you can't get back (like you're 20 years older, you've had kids, etc) then it could be a great motivator.
Good luck and stay safe while you lose.0 -
well the last time i fit into a medium was about 9 years ago.. i weighed about 160. im 217 lbs right now. im gonna hang it up in my roo were i can see it everyday..0

So several years ago I was shopping for clothes and I found a cute skort for $11. I could almost button and zip it, and I was trying to lose weight, so I bought it. I didn't lose weight, I actually GAINED weight...but I kept that darn skort. I finally fit in it in June this year, and by the time school started I could pull it on and off without buttoning/zipping it.
I just recently pulled out an outfit that I wore like 9 years ago--when I was 150lbs. It is a size 11/12. I plan on fitting in it by spring!
I also have the outfit in my profile picture. It is a size 8 skirt and small shirt. I have been carrying that outfit around for 18 YEARS. my ultimate goal is to wear it again. my measurements were 36-26-34 back then....0 -
You all should just do it. You will be surprised what you can do. I know a similar story of one of my friends here on MFP who bought some jeans that were 2 sizes small because that was her original size. After working out and taking control she does not even fit the jeans!!! She went down 3 sizes from that!!!! She said that she kicks herself for spending $$$ on some jeans but is not to upset as she now has a sexy body..... Do it ladies!!! If the smaller size clothes is not enough motivation. Friend me and we will make it happen... Take control....
