Great post. I always thought I should be 160 but after calculating my body fat % I was shocked to know I should only go no lower than 170. 180 is very comfortable for me. I feel that goal more attainable. Body fat% is key.0

Thank you for posting this! This is so true! I have a friend who is the same height as me but weighed 95lbs as a size 0... I was 110 as a 0 because I worked out. According to BMI charts I should be in the 95-125 range and my 130lb, 11 year old gymnast is obese. I'd look sick at anything less than 110 and my daughter just took 1st, 3rd, and 4th at her last meet so something is definitely flawed. My goal is to get healthy and my goal weight is 115 which is what I weighed when I didn't have any health problems.0

If you don't have the body that will fit into a size 0, don't make that you're goal. You need to be realistic with what you want to achieve, and you need to accept who you are, not mimicking what those around you are.
Here's the thing. A lot of us who are losing weight don't know what our 'ideal weight' is. We don't know if we have the body that will fit into a size 0 because we've never been there. I don't see many women here pushing for a size 0, though? I think most of us would be happy somewhere within the 6-10 range.0 -

Great post. I was thinking about this too when I was reading "will I fit into size X at y weight?" yesterday.
People of my height and weight were wearing smaller sizes than me. But I know i have a big butt and small waist. I think at my lowest weight I was still a 10 but the waist was too big but I couldn't get an 8 over my thighs, butt, hips LOL0 -

I think there are plenty of women in the world like this. We just need to start recognizing and appreciating them more. Being skinny is a whole different animal than being fit, strong and athletically capable. I, for one, would prefer to be able to get on my bike and ride 100 miles than to fit into a pair of size 2 skinny jeans. Iron thighs forever! :drinker:0 -

I don't see many women here pushing for a size 0, though? I think most of us would be happy somewhere within the 6-10 range.
I understand your point. I guess a part of my point was to ignore the numbers and ignore what is expected from society. Just do it, and keep going until you've found a point where you're happy with your body. Of course, half of that is accepting who you are and not what people expect you to be.
The main focus of my post was to not compare yourself to others. That's how most women on here seem to be setting up their goals, but that just doesn't work.0 -

Figure out what store of yours is one of your favorites, or one that you hope to shop at as you get smaller!
Then go to their website and pull up their sizing charts.
You can match your measurements against theirs for each size and figure out where you are heading at least as far as tops vs bottoms vs dresses know what I mean?
I used to squeeze myself with the measuring type just a bit to see how much I would need to strip off before reaching the next size down, etc. DONT predict too far into the future though because you have no idea what your butt and your waist are going to look like as you trim down and muscle up though.

I have totally done this -- and it saved my sanity when I realized that after plus size stores (which are oddly more consistent -- perhaps because there's like ONE or TWO of them), women's clothing sizes are jacked. This was my method for determining that it was time to venture into the Little People store... and not leave with a crushed and broken soul .
Totally works!
So now, I just preface store name to size to give the value more meaning when I'm discussing with family on my weightloss. Still meaningless, but the general public does (sadly) understand size loss and the perspective that brings than me touting the fact that I've lost 10% body fat.
I just need to get my butt back to the gym to start shedding again. Plateau's blow.0
