My heart goes out to all the children and adults killed in Connecticut!
This is a sad day for society as a whole, and tougher gun restrictions need to be put in place. My heart is just broken and I am devastated to think that so many children were taken and will never experience graduation, their first kiss, getting married and being parents themselves.
God pray for those who passed..... Parents, hug your kids a little tighter tonight and be sure to tell the people who mean the most to you how much you love them!

First, I will say I am from Connecticut and have no children of my own... but am nonethless heartbroken and have been very emotional all day. Second, this is NOT the time (or place) to talk about gun control and/or restrictions.
Twenty babies have been murdered and six adults will not be going home... please focus your energy on thoughts to those familes and not bring up politicis.0 -
Just going to warn you, a few threads have already been locked in regards to this. Just letting you know.0

This such a horrible, devestating situation.. Not sure what to even say.. I'm horrified.. I cant wait to hug my babies ... Such a tragedy... I pray for the families involved in this... TERRIBLE0

literally could not stop shaking when i heard this news. WHY are firearms legal? what the heck? i truly truly hope this serves as groundwork to put in some damn gun laws. my heart goes out to anyone affected by this as well0

I've been paralyzed and weepy all day. So close to Christmas and Hanukkah. How do you bring yourself to come home empty handed?
My heart breaks for the families.0 -

Not trying to get political, as most of my post was expressing condolences. I added that as my own belief, but not once did I ask for anyones stance on the political aspect of this..... please don't turn this post into something I was not meaning it to be....0 -
I don't know what has happened as I live on the other sideand haven't heard the news but I can say we have tight gun laws here in australia and guess what..........it doesn't stop the shootings. All gun laws do are make it harder for those who have a legitimate reason for owning a gun. Those who want a gun can get one just as easy on the black market.0

so so so sad... cant believe someone could do that0

Just heard what happened. So terrible, those poor families.0

This was a very tragic event and my heart goes out to the families of the victims, but can we please put this in "chit chat fun and games"? This does not belong here.0

I watched a discussion last night. Basically it was about how most of the time it is a young person who is the shooter. That in todays world with the pressures around them, the bulling, the social isolation from a technology based world and from busy lives of thier families not really having the time needed to focus intently on how thier teenager or young 20 something adult is doing with coping skills. That depression is not always directed inward, that some people sometimes have thier depression point outward either at the person they believe has hurt them or at society itself. That these people are so depressed they are numb to what they are doing. Not just the shooters but also the ones who get in confrontations with others on a non leathal level. The disussion turned to pointing out that we need to start giving our teenagers psychiatric evaluations at the same time they get thier physicals. That 98% of the time the parents don't recognize the symptoms in teens. That teens will tell someone else, but not thier parents. I really think these people are onto something. I, personally have always thought that if a person wants to own an assualt rifle then they should have to under go a psychiatric evalutaton as well. While hunters do not need the rifles, If we were ever invaded, we would be glad they had them. I am conflicted.0

i will agree with this, however, i think EVERYONE and not just teenagers should have a psychiatric evaluation at the time of physicals.0
