Hiya, what are hcg and b12 injections, some sort of vitamin supplement?0
-
Why are you on HCG? Also, why are you having B-12 injections. Do you have a deficiency?0

Hang on, what's a weight loss doctor?0

Hang on, what's a weight loss doctor?
How much do you want to bet they are not a 'real' doctor?0 -
Re B12, assuming you are taking them for weight loss:
http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vitamin-b12-injections/AN01400
"There's no solid evidence that vitamin B-12 injections aid weight loss"0 -
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1365103/
"We conclude that there is no scientific evidence that HCG is effective in the treatment of obesity; it does not bring about weight-loss of fat-redistribution, nor does it reduce hunger or induce a feeling of well-being"
I would stop seeing your 'weight loss' doctor and eat at a reasonable caloric deficit.0 -
Look, instead of persecuting her for doing something she thinks is positive in her life (i.e. weight loss) why not just be supportive and keep going your own way.
I have had huge results because of the HCG protocol. It helped me turn the corner, lose weight, and promote a healthy eating habit. The biggest thing is that those articles you posted are not the entire picture. HCG is NOT a miracle drug. It is a tool just like any other diet that has been around. The HCG diet is a protocol... a set of steps to follow.
Dr. Simeon wrote the book called pounds and inches. It outlines the process to follow and why it works from his studies.
The actual diet does help the person lose weight, and then teaches them how to eat healthy and keep the weight off for good. It helps them find better eating habits and teach them how to correct when their weight goes the wrong way.0 -
I have done b6, b12, lipo 3 in 1 shot and that helped me tremendously. I had no energy before and just wanted to stay in bed then started taking the shots and lost 100 lbs bc it helped me get up and moving. Now hcg on the other hand it was not so good. I lost 30 lbs but when I stopped taking it I gained 50 back. Now my metabolism is shot and it's so hard for me to lose now.0

Thumbs up to that, Jeff!
People ignorantly keep going on about the "dangers" of HCG, yet up to this very day there has not been even ONE reported death of anyone using Rx HCG under a doctor's supervision.
But what abut bariatric surgery???
One study reported 34 deaths occurring after 13,871 operations (0.2% mortality). Cause of death was determined by reviewing the complete clinical record. Pulmonary embolism was the most common cause of death (38%), followed by cardiac failure (18%), anastomotic leak (18%) and respiratory failure (12%).
Another study reported on 33 deaths from 4431 operations (0.7% mortality) and reported that 30% of the deaths were due to pulmonary embolism, 27% due to cardiac causes, and 21% due to anastomotic leak. The cause of death could not be determined in 15% of cases.
What happens afterward?
What many don't know is that most people who have bariatric surgery have to live with a whole host of long term side effects including severe nutritional deficiencies. Not only that, many people actually regain some if not all of their weight.
Don't believe me? Here are the sources:

People justify bariatric surgery because the risks outweigh the dangers of being grossly overweight - but won't even consider the possibility of the astronomically safer Rx HCG. So I find it very hypocritical, indeed.
If anyone here desires to examine the evidence fairly, I highly recommend the following book, "Weight-Loss Apocalypse: Emotional Eating Rehab Through the HCG Protocol". It is a comprehensive examination of the protocol's effectiveness and the scientific evidence behind it. I also recommend reading Dr. Simeon's original manuscript in it's entirety. You can find it online here: http://www.4shared.com/office/yEv-l2-2/Official-HCG-Dr-Simeons-Manusc.html
I wanted to clarify, I am talking specifically about genuine Rx HCG prescribed by a doctor, and NOT the so-called "homeopathic" over-the-counter products that are definitely banned by the FDA (as well they should be - interestingly enough, there have been no reported deaths among those doing Rx HCG, but there have been deaths reported for over-the-counter HCG products). Many sites are mistakenly reporting the the FDA has also banned Rx HCG for weight loss, but that is not true. It allows HCG to be prescribed "off label" but does not recommend it. The only direction it asks consumers to take is quoted below...
"FDA advises consumers who are using “homeopathic” HCG for weight loss to stop using the product, to stop following any labeled dieting instructions, and to discard the product. Consumers who suspect they have experienced adverse effects as a result of the use of HCG drug products for weight loss should contact a licensed health care professional immediately."
For the accurate information, please see the FDA's site regarding HCG:

I am not sure how giving facts is persecuting anyone, assuming that was directed at me. Eating healthily at a caloric deficit does all that without the need for drugs and injections that are not even proved to work. It would be doing the OP and others reading this not to point that out.
ETA: Re above post. Where did anyone mention the dangers. I quoted well regarded studies/articles. I am not sure how quoting a bunch of stuff re bariatric surgery has anything to do with the point at hand.0 -
You are right, you didn't mention "dangers" - but someone in almost every other thread here has - so I finally decided to address it. Sorry I took it all out on you - you certainly didn't deserve it.
And yes, the HCG Protocol has been proven effective, the book I mentioned lists the studies, and you can also find them online, you only need to look for them. But also there is the anecdotal evidence of the many 1000's of obese people who have successfully and healthfully lost their weight through it, including myself, my husband, my brother-in-law and his wife, and 2 of my formerly fat friends. We are thankful we learned about this much safer & effective alternative instead of having bariatric surgery!
Wish you all the best,

Please fire that doctor and stop injecting yourself with HCG!
HCG in ANY for -- real or homeopathic -- has been proven over and over again to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for weight loss, and any doctor that recommends HCG for weight loss at ANY calorie level is pushing a KNOWN SCAM! The only reason people lose weight so fast on the HCG diet is that they are depriving their body of necessary nutrition and calories for weeks by following that severely restrictive diet plan. It is NOT healthy to lose weight fast by cutting your calories below a safe level for weeks, and most people that attempt that diet do regain. In the long run, many people end up heavier than they were before they tried the diet.
Please don't waste your money on that "Weight-Loss Apocalypse: Emotional Eating Rehab Through the HCG Protocol" book. It is just some woman trying to get rich by writing a book to promote a known medical scam. I wish the government would bring charges against her so she would stop pushing that dangerous and unscientific theory!

On top of that, injecting HCG for weight loss is not only painful and unnecessary, but injecting a hormone can upset the balance of other hormones -- which can cause many health problems you do not want.

With all due respect, I will take peer reviewed studies over anecdotal evidence any day of the week. How much weight loss is attributed to a calorie deficit v HCG? There is nothing in the anecdotal 'evidence' to say - and the peer reviewed studies say that there is no impact of HCG in weight loss, so my money is on the fact that the weight loss was due solely to a calorie deficit.
Adding a peer reviewed study again to be clear:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1365103/
"We conclude that there is no scientific evidence that HCG is effective in the treatment of obesity; it does not bring about weight-loss of fat-redistribution, nor does it reduce hunger or induce a feeling of well-being"0
