When you go workout at the gym do you wear your HRM to see your calories burnt, or do you use the machines that show you how many calories youve burnt? And then just add them all up from the different machines when you have finishes your gym workout?

I use my HRM  .. I know that mine is pretty accurate, and i can also keep a close eye on my HR when im on the treadmill and i love to see the numbers go up on my watch hehe  .. Also the machines i use in my local gym, arnt all that accurate with there calories burnt! As i dont tap in my weight, whereas my HRM has my weight logged into it, so its better :)

I used to use a HRM.

Now I just go by TDEE (maintenance inclusive of exercise and all daily activity) which was trial and error to work out.

I always use my HRM, it is more accurate than the machine.

Yes, I routinely use my HRM. It makes me push harder and I love seeing the calorie burn add up.

I always use my HRM. I love seeing my heart rate go up too.

But I don't use it when I lift weights anymore, only my cardio workouts. Anything I burn from lifting is a bonus!
  • Always HRM.

The machines simply can't take enough into account to give an accurate read. What is a hard burn for someone at xxx pounds might not be a hard burn for someone else at the same xxx pounds.

Machines get you in the ballpark but that's really about it.
Most cardio machines now will pick up your sensor though so you don't have to keep an eye on a wrist, etc.
