Running NSV

I started running 2-3 times a week sometime in October. Then I decided I wanted to compete in a 5k. The goals I've set for myself include running the whole thing (not walking) and finishing in under 30 minutes. Since November, I've been able to run the full distance. I'm exclusively running on the treadmill right now. Anyway, the first time I went the full distance (I do the full 5k once a week), I did walk a couple minutes and finished in 36:26. I haven't had to walk any since then. My time has improved each week and today, I finished in 33:05. That's over 3 minutes I've shaved off my time!! I did a little fist pump on the treadmill. I'd have jumped for joy but I was toooo tired, hahaha.

Go me! :drinker:

I started 16 months ago with the simple goal for finishing a 5k without walking, too. I've done many 5ks, one 15k and 2 half marathons in 2012. Already paid for 2 half marathons in 2013 and probably going to do at least 1 more. And, I'll try to run a race a month come March.

What I'm trying to say is, Running is AWESOME and it's ADDICTING!!!!

    GO GET IT!!!

P.S. Once you get off the treadmill and toe up to the starting line, You'll hit that 30:00 or under for sure!!!

You may even be faster outside. the treadmill can be so boring. I find I run a faster pace outdoors. On race day I really push myself. Since I'm older now I am slower than I want to be. I'll just keep on trying to improve though. 5ks are my favorite, but I have done 2 half marathons and some 10ks. I need to get some pounds off, it does affect my time. I have several races coming up in the spring.

I almost went outside to run today but had a lot of other stuff to do and the gym is just closer than driving to a good (safe) spot to run outdoors. Soon, very soon. I love it!!
