    I lift 3X per week...cardio 2X per week and flexibility or Yoga once per week.

    I do this, as well.

    3 days a week is what is recommended most often. Right now, I'm finding that I can only fit 2 days a week into my schedule....I miss my 3rd day though and will be picking it back up after the holiday craziness subsides.

    I would suggest doing compound lifts for the best results. Why split your days (especially as a beginner) when you could be working your entire body?

    I lift 3 days, do cardio 2 days and 1 stretch (yoga) session per week.

    Obviously, it'll depend on you, your energy, your endurance, and your strength.

    I did full body 3x a week until the weight/rest was taking up too much time; now I've broken it down into 30 minute 4x a week, core all days, with alternating upper body/lower body, with a rest day in between.

    3 x week (whole body) - body pump (low weights high reps)
    2 x week - heavy lifts (back/legs one day; and arms/shoulders one day)
    Try to do core 5x/ wk.

    Day 2: Lower body.

    Day 3: Full body workout.
