Plateau Help

I've been sticking to my daily calorie allotment of around 1,200 calories and working out about 5 days a week to the Ripped in 30 DVDs and my weight hasn't budged for 2 weeks. I do tend to go a bit higher on the weekends with my calorie intake and usually don't exercise formally on weekends.

Two things worth mentioning, I have been pretty sick the past 2 weeks with what started as a cold and now is a sinus infection (I'm going to the Dr today). I have been taking decongestants too. Overall I have had NO appetite and am forcing myself to eat most of my meals to get to 1200.

Anyway, any tips or advice for me? I do have weight to lose, about 20 pounds and feel like it should be falling off of me. I never did take pictures or measurements but I do feel thinner but the scale isn't agreeing with me. Just frustrated. Thanks for any tips.

No idea on your stats, but read this:

And try upping your calories. 20lb is not actually as much to lose as you'd think. You need to be eating closer to your TDEE.

I was going to say the same thing. I've been stedily losing inches and weight since I started.

Up you cals to TDEE - 15-20%. If you want to eat 1200 make sure that is your NET. (eat back your exercise cals, especially at 1200).

1200 is a great way to initally loose weight but not for a long period of time

I was going to post the same link - definitely a big help for me too. I'm eating 1700+ calories a day and still losing the fat.

Eating more will help EVENTUALLY. It will take time to get things back to normal.

I wanted to lose a pound a week. MFP had me as 1280 to lose a pound a week. When I started, I lose weight faster than I ever did before. I was stoked and figured it must be working.

Stalled and had trouble ever since. Slowly raised my calories up and still nothing for me. So, I switched to a calorie surplus for a while, and been lifting much heavier at the gym. Eventually I will get back to fat loss.

When I do, I will go 0.5 pounds a week. I think that might be a better bet for you as well.

Thanks for all of the helpful replies. I'm having a tough time wrapping my mind around this. I used several calculators, including the one the first poster mentioned and they're all listing my TDEE around 2062. I'm telling you what, if I was eating 2,000 calories a day I'd be gaining weight like no one's business. I understand you need to eat about 20% less than TDEE to LOSE weight so that's about 1,600 calories a day. 400 more than I've been eating. If I ate 1,600 calories a day I'd basically be eating back my exercise calories plus another 200. I'll try it though, I expect my body might freak out for a week or two before I start losing again, is this a correct assumption?
