Can I work out with my couch?

No, I mean, literally my couch. Lift that sucker with the knees and push it up with the arms however so many times it's required for me to 'feel the burn'. I would say it's approximately 40lbs (our loveseat is probably 20-30lbs), not that heavy for a couch but nonetheless. Do you guys think this is a good idea? Or should I go the water-bottle method?

From what I've read, people short on equipment can fill a typical water bottle with water and basically use a couple of those as your weights.

I think I'd prefer to use my couch.

I do some of my absolute best work on the couch. Kitchen table is also a great place to "get in shape", if you know what I mean

If you can't afford equipment, then lift the couch might work. You can always walk in place and use canned goods for weights. Look at YouTube for exercise videos such as walking.

I am not sure of the previous poster, but there have been several threads lately about the amount of calories burned during sex. I think the girl is faking. Who knows.

Do what you gotta do, girl.

It's gonna be real awkward to overhead press though. You might want to find a few other things around the house. I would check out the book "you are your own gym" for some ideas.

sounds like a good way to get an injury lol.

Why don't you just start with body-weight exercises and when those get too difficult save up some money for a barbell+weights (craigslist!).

Don't bother with water bottles, unless you're filling them with cement...

I second this - and you could try placing a strong pole across two armchair arms of equal height and do half pull-ups on it. There's always push-ups. "You are your own gym" is a brilliant bodyweight book.

A strong pole placed across two limbs is definitely what this thread needs.

If water bottles are not heavy enough use gallon milk jugs.

I will definitely have to check out that book! Hopefully it's at the local library, and if not I'll have to invest in it when I find myself a damned job.

Retiredmom: I have a step-climber which I stole from mom when she got bored with it, but other equipment is a no go. Soup cans are a thought! I guess we'd be saying around Chunky soup kind of soup cans?

Melo: Milk jugs are fun, if a bit shaky.

Dear sweet Heavens I was not anticipating so much bawdytalk when I made this thread! Oh me oh my.
