Over Calorie Intake.

Hi MFP friends,
I have recently started My Fitness Pal and have my calorie setting set to 1550 calories as I am so close to my goal weight. I eat back all exercise calories (mostly), over the last couple of days I have had two days of over calorie intake and one day below. Today, I added up how much I was over to see how I would try to eat tomorrow. I have overeaten by roughly 650 calories. That is 650 calories over exercise and my 1550. Tomorrow I go into surgery so I think my food intake should slow down.
I guess I am just curious- what do you do when your intake is over as much as mine is? My "new week" starts on Saturday. So, I have about 5 days to get back down to an average of 1550 calories.
Thanks for your help.

Do the obvious - eat under your goal each day so you meet your weekly goal if you're not meeting your daily goal. Or exercise more.0

If you are approachign your goal weight, loss is slow, right? 550 calories over in a week is only about 1/7 of a pound. I, personally, would not worry about it at all.0

On my home > settings > update diet / fitness profile what are you set to for "what is your goal"
if it's lose 0.5 lb per week then your daily deficit is 250 calories
if it's 1lb per week then your daily deficit is 500 calories (before exercise in "each" case here)
if it's 1.5lb per week then 750 calories is your daily deficit
if it's 2lbs per week then 1000 calories...
if it's maintenance well you're still over 650 calories over 3 days... that's 1/5 of a pound. if you kept that same level for the week you're at 1/3 of a lb potentially just pure numbers.0 -
My answer is an opposite to what the previous one is. When I look at my diary I have had a steady decline in my calorie intake. Rome wasn't built in a day. I don't know how much you were used to eating but don't expect your appetite to immediately agree with your brain that it needs to be at a certain level.0

This. But if you're going to get all bent out of shape about it, be under a little each day for the rest of the week (or whatever arbitrary period of time you want to use). Just FYI, I recently had surgery and gained weight-not just lack of activity but I was ravenously hungry-kind of continually during the initial couple weeks of healing. I have no idea what kind of surgery you're having, or what your experience will be, but I just couldn't eat enough food while the incisions were healing (meat really-I finally got it to slow down after I ate a 1-lb steak-seriously). The gained weight is gone now, and I healed well, which was far more important. I wasn't expecting the whole continual ravenous hunger and eating thing-so it threw me a little.0 -
Net ~100 calories below your goal for a week, problem solved0

Tomorrow is another day.
And, in general, I find the day after I eat more than usual I am less hungry than usual and naturally go under. Hit tomorrow's calorie goals and go with it. It's a long term thing.0
