What do you do when...

You get mad or frustrated? In general, not just like, "oh darn, the scale won't move!" but like if something really ticks you off at work or something along those lines.
As kids we are given paint and crayons to color out our anger... what do we do as adults? It's not good to hold onto these feelings of anger, being mad or frustrated... It's like being stressed and can really compromise our happiness, health and weight loss.
Any suggestions?

Invest in a punching bag. Seriously. If they would let me put one in the office at work, I'd be beating that thing up on a daily basis.

Why not grab the sharpies, colored pens or highlighters and do the same "color out your anger" as an adult...if it worked as kid, it should still work!!

I have to admit, I do this also. My kids know that if they come home and the house is spotless then they should probably stay out of my way because I am not a happy person that day.

    Punch them in the face.

Not really, but I wish. I used to go out and ride my bike. Now, I'm not really sure.

great post! yep here we colour (i have a two year old), we take a time out and cool off before letting it out safely, lots of talking, and at the end of the day when there is no clear face to yell at.. CLEAN with the music cranked so it becomes a super productive workout!

I totally color. And doodle. And crochet. And read. And walk. And go for a drive.

And do this in my head:

  • Different situations call for different reactions. Bad drivers require I get red-faced and scream and cuss them out, while bad co-workers require me to get calm and snide. People poor in their performance need me to complain. When it's my wife, I need some time apart to plot revenge....

Or, as I have matured (but far from mature) I reflect on my failings and the forgiveness I received. Realize we all screw up and I'm no exception and I remember a quote, that being resentful is like taking poison and expecting the other person to die. Letting it go asap is something good for you.
