Well, my oldest daughter woke up vomiting at 4am this morning. So, no running for me unless DH comes home early tonight (doubt it).

I hope everyone gets a good run in today, run for me!!

    Good morning!

Sorry to hear about your sick kiddo Mireille. Did you run yesterday? How are the new shoes?

Today is my rest (no running) day. Wishing everyone a great run today!

Sorry to hear about your daughter, Mireille! :frown:

Don't know if I'll get a run in today, couldn't sleep worth a darn last night now I feel wiped out. We'll see how I'm feeling after work. May help me sleep better tonight.

Plus I'm up 1.5 lbs. for the weekend so I guess I'd better run. :grumble:

Mireille, so sorry about your little one. You really are helpless to do much for them. I know mine are so pitiful like that......I hope she's taking in some liquids at least and this sickness will pass quickly.....What kind of shoes did you get? I got some New Balance a few weeks ago and they've been great. I got a size bigger than normal with inserts for arch supports. GREAT! No more blisters since. No rubbing anywhere......ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

I'm feeling like some of you guys....I'm tired myself. I haven't had a rest day in a while. I didn't run a couple of days last week, but I rode my bike with two little ones in a trailer behind it. It's a workout! I start out in the morning thinking that it will be my rest day, then I end up doing something so that I have a few extra calories and I don't have to eat like a bird. It's a mind game sometimes.

Well, happy trails to all. I have chicken laid out for dinner, so at least I know it'll be low cal!

Hope your daughter feels better very soon Mireille:flowerforyou:

Well, I hopped on the treadmill until my daughters bus came so I ran a mile.
I'll do another when my other daughter takes her nap.

    Happy running!

    Good morning all!

Sorry to hear about the vomiting and hope she's feeling better.

My husband informed me this morning that he woke up to some noises at about 3 am last night to find our three oldest (ages 10, 8 & 5) kids reading books together in our daughter's room. He broke up the "slumber party" but they're gonna be tired & ornery today... :frown:

I going out for a run right now before they wake up.

Hope you all enjoy your day today!

Thanks everyone! She's seems to be feeling a lot better which means she'll be able to go to school tomorrow!! Yeah!!

Pam, I bought some Asics running shoes on Saturday, I bought the newer version of my last pair. I tried on a few other brands but these were the most comfortable. They were really nice during my run yesterday.
The sports bra I bought fit differently during yesterdays run than when I tried it on at the store (not as tight). It's keeping my girls in place and I guess that's what matters.

Shannon, I know how you feel. I'm up a 1.5 lbs but I have to say that I did eat like a pig over the weekend. Today is going to be difficult for me cuz whenever I'm tired, I tend to eat. Oh well, there is always tomorrow!!

It's going to be a long a day,!

Sorry to hear about your daughter Mireille! I hope she feels better soon and that the illness skips the rest of your family!

Well, I am truly frustrated and down! I am up 2 pounds this morning. I only took 2 days off this past week...Thursday and Sunday. I always take Thursday off because it's the day I volunteer at the elementary school. I had to take Sunday off because we went out of town for a graduation party...we had 2 this weekend to attend. I think the 2 day break and the fattening food at the parties just did it for me. I am back to smart eating and logging everything I put in my mouth! I can't keep falling off the wagon!

I am having a hard time getting motivated to run this morning due to my allergies. Anyone else have horrible allergies that makes you tired, eyes itch and unable to breathe?! FUN TIMES!!! I needed to get on here just to push myself a bit. I am going now. UGH!!!!!!!

Sick kids always put a detour in our plans, maybe you count today as a rest day and get a fantastic run in tomorrow! I don't know about you but it seems as soon as I get a good routine going one of the kids ends up sick...lol

As for me, getting a shorter run in today, daughter is getting her braces off this am! Looking at getting 4 miles in today, maybe take a second run in the afternoon.

    Everyone have a great day!

I suffered the same horrible allergy symptoms for many years until I had sinus surgery about 13 years ago. Been doing well ever since. Talk to your ENT to find out if you are a good candidate for surgery. I have been very pleased with the results.

Try not be down on yourself. You're working hard and are still in the right mind set. I always worry that not only am I going to fall off the wagon, but also say, what the hay, this is easier. So, you're still thinking/working in the right direction. Don't underestimate your TOM or the sodium in the foods you had this weekend. I suspect you're gonna see those two pounds come off quickly this week. Keep up the good work! AFTERALL.....you're already a "babe."

Some days sure are harder than others!! I put in my 4 miles on the treadmill, but it was a struggle. Glad I made myself do it, though. I always feel better when I accomplish this goal!!

Hey Kechie! NO WAY...thanks for the advice but surgery is not my thing. I had to have my tonsils out over Thanksgiving and ended up hemorrhaging and having to go in to the hospital for a couple of days....for a tonsilectomy!!! :noway: Elective surgeries just aren't my cup of tea. I think I will stick with the drugs for now.

PAM--You made me laugh with the babe comment. I'm definitely a buckeye, babe is only my sex at this point. HAHAHAHAHHAHA!

I got in 5.5 miles today so that made me happy! I think I am going to shoot for a 10K tomorrow. It's the last day my kids are in school. The only problem I only have from 8:45 -10:45 AM to get it done and get showered! I have to be at the school for the end of year parties. I will do my best!!

I had one of those days. I had my gym clothes on at 8:00, then shoes on around 12:15. I think I finally got on the treadmill around 1:10 - then had to walk for 10 min. THEN... I was able to run 6.5 MILES!!!!!!!! That the farthest I think I've ever run! I'm sure my knees will feel it tomorrow, but who knows. A few more like that and I may have to rethink the 1/2 marathon here in Sept. I'm going to go look up training on Hal Higdon's site now

    Good. Laughter is always welcomed.....
So just a question....when do you plan to run when your kiddos are home? My daughter's last day is next Thursday. I ran last summer during my baby's nap, but I can't remember what my older daughter did.

When I get home I plan on trying to hop on the treadmill to run 1.5 miles and then walk 3.5. On Friday night I did 1.25 miles running and 2.75 walking and I am slowly trying to work my way up. I will get there eventually right? That is what I keep telling myself anyway. :ohwell:

Ok this is my new re logging. I was stuck at work ALL weekend and am finally logging normally again with my fellow club members. Today was what I call an "endurance run" I did 15 minutes of running stadium stairs(at a small field but still huge steps, ala rocky) I then went to the fiels for about 15 minutes of suicides(that annoying running back and forth) and followed with a quick lap around the soccer field. I couldnt take the heat for one minute longer. I have NO idea how hot it is here but my guess is at least 80, so thats why I called it an "endurance run" tommorow I am gonna wake before work and run, and that way it wont be blazing, and I will get it in!!!

Hope your daughter is feeling better. I know it is always a bad day when the kids areb't feeling well-I always say off with the exercise shoes and on with the mommy shoes for a few days! Hope your back in your running shoes soon and her in her school shoes!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone on their advice, helpfulness and suggestions about running my first 5K.

Well I did it! I couldn't have done it without my husband at my side! It was nice to do something together since we always seem to be doing something for our 4 children. I ran the 5K, stopping just 2-3 times for a 10 second walk in the first leg of the race. Alot of hills!!! It was in the countryside, but such a beautiful run. I finished just under 32 minutes and came in 72nd out of 120. I just had a few goals. I didn't want to finish last and I wanted to finish under 45 min-so I met those goals: . I am going to run another race soon with my husband. He was such a great coach! He could have finished under 23 minutes, but he waited with me, Thanks again, Have a great day!

Nice job Melissa! I remember how excited I was the first time I did an organized race. It made me feel so good about myself. I too had a goal not to finish last! That's what I love about those races is that everyone has their own goals, and everyone can accomplish something great at the same time.

A few years back my daughter convinced me that I should try walking a marathon with her. I really didn't think I could do it, but we did it. I'll never forget how it felt to be going along the streets with people all along the sidelines cheering for me. For some reason several people were holding up signs that said "You are an athlete." I'd never felt like I was an athlete before, but then I suddenly thought, hey, if you're doing a marathon, you really are an athlete!

Today I'm going to the gym to do 5 miles on the elliptical. Then if I have time I'll take my doggie for a walk. I'm proud of everybody in this group who is setting goals and working towards them. We're all athletes!! (he-he):flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:
