Not losing weight, help?

I'm 5'5 and 119 lbs and I want to lose about 10 lbs. About 5-6 days on average each week I exercise and I've been doing this for about 5 months properly now.. I do dancing (1hr 30 mins about) then I go for a 2 mile run and then when I get back I'll do some cardio depending on how I feel.. some times I'll do 40 mins of cardio other days I'll do 10 minutes. Then to work my abs I'll either do some yoga or a different workout from youtube. I will also do squats, push ups, planks etc. But my weight has stayed the same or if anything I've gained. And it's not just the scales confirming that it's also my body and the way it looks. I really don't know what to do, any ideas? Thankyou

Maybe your body is smart and realizes that weighing any less than you do would be waaaay too low for you.0

So you want to weigh like 100lbs? Sorry, I'm not going to encourage that.0

I have extra fat on my body and I have quite a small body frame, so I don't think it would be too low? :-/ I just feel really uncomfortable and self conscious of myself and if I looked like how I wanted I would feel a lot more confident.0

Do you have a picture of yourself?0 -

Lol as long as you're clothed, sure. I just don't want to offer advice to someone who I think may be using it to reach unhealthy goals.0 -
What you REALLY want to do is to drop your body fat percent down. Cardio and calorie deficit aren't enough to really change the composition (ie amount of muscle) of your body. Look into a heavy lifting regimen, I recommend New Rules of Lifting for Women. At your current size, I imagine you will start seeing results immediately while eating 2000+ calories/day and staying the same weight. What's not to love?0

Ahh, thankyou! I will, I really hope this helps. But if I don't eat that much calories will I still see the same results?0 -

On the scale? No, you will either stay the same or maybe even go up a little bit. But by inches, you will see major difference. Here is me (5'5") after just over a month of lifting and eating 2000 calories/day:
I lost about 2 inches off my waist and stayed at the same exact weight.0 -
First mistake: you're still eating... stop that & the 10 pounds will disappear in the blink of an eye.
Seriously - I'm just over 5'5" and 143 in my current pic: If I drop more than 10 pounds right now I'll be losing muscle mass & that is the LAST thing I want to do! By your standards, I am morbidly obese. Thanx - I needed that confidence booster today...0 -
you might just need to tone up. you dont need to lose any more weight
I would start doing pilates. you will tone up and drop that body fat and replace it with muscle. or do crossfit.0 -
to the 5"5 girls (both previous posters) how often are you training? Im going to start weight training tomorow as well as my normal activity (lots of walking and looking after an active toddler and house)0

Weights, 2-3 times a week, cardio maybe once outside of that, not every week though.0 -
At your height and weight you don't need to lose anymore weight. You are already on the low end of what a healthy weight is for your height. I am the same height as you and would look far too thin at your weight, especially any lower.
What it sounds like you want to do is tone up... which means forgetting about what the scale says and eat some more. Focus on heavy lifting and eating close to maintance calories. The scale will go up but that is a good thing. DOn't pay attention to the scale. Losing anymore weight will not make your issue go away.0 -

I workout 6 days a week, 2 times a day. Mornings are usually either Pilates, Tai'Chi, Yoga or a Bodukon (yoga.martial arts & meditation), the evenings are the gym for light cardio & a 1-2 hour weight training session that alternates days between torso & lower body w/ core. I found out that too much cardio for me reverses my results, so I do 10min on the Arc Trainer at the gym to warm up, and if I have time, I'll do a 10-15 min on the Upright Stationary Bike. On days where I'm focusing more on core, I'll do 20min on the Arc Trainer to warm up, focusing on posture to help with the core training.
I've heard good things about the book New Rules of Weight Lifting for Women, otherwise look into a DVD set I just chanced by at ROSS for $5, called Supreme 90Day, it's similar to P90X, but less annoying & A LOT less $$ (Amazon has it for about $10, from the workouts I've been doing, very much worth it).0
