Mom, it was 17 years ago today that I got that call. I love you and miss you each and every day.
It’s been some time, since you’ve been gone
I thought by now, I would be strong
I think of you, and shed my tears
I wonder who, will still my fears.
Your memories remain, inside my heart
My soul it seems, to be torn apart
You told me secrets, I hold so dear
I only wish, you would be near.
I still miss and love you, can’t you see
I wish to hold, and talk with thee
So many things, I could not say
And now you’ve gone, so far away.
You taught me to, in God believe
You said he would always, take care of me
So take my hand, and guide me there
And save a place, one day to share.
In memory of Mary Jane Hill Pelker (July 23, 1955 - April 3, 1993)

I miss my Mother everyday... Sometimes when there is pain in our hearts we hold things in and try hard to forget and sometimes it's the very things we should be embracing and clinging onto. Thank you for sharing0

Thank you for sharing. I lost my mother 7 years ago to cancer and I still miss her every single day. I know where she is and I know she is safe. I even still believe she's watching out for us. I'm lucky to still dream of her when things are going on in my life. It's like having her close until the day I see her again.0

awww, I loved that! Thank you for posting it.
My mother has Alzheimer's and I am her caretaker. Alzheimer's is such a horrible thing. She is like a shell of my mom, like somebody who kinda looks like my mom, but really is not. She has lost the ability to talk, which is the saddest thing because she used to love to talk! She'd talk my ear off! Now all she says is "HEY!".
Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you so much for posting your beautiful poem.0 -

I loved that poem. My Mom died almost 5 years ago and it hurts my heart everyday. Whoever said "time heals all wounds" was full of crap. :ohwell:0

Mothers are particularly hard to lose because they love us so deeply and completely. We don't have to do anything to earn her love. We just have it. It's a very hard thing to live without. However, I do know that she still loves me as much as she ever did, in a way I still have her with me, and I will happily be reunited with her again.0

The tide recedes but leaves behind
bright seashells on the sand.
The sun goes down, but gentle
warmth still lingers on the land.
The music stops, and yet it echoes
on in sweet refrains.....
For every joy that passes,
something beautiful remains.
I miss my mom dearly and there is not a day that goes by that i don't think of her. It's been 5+ years since I lost my mom and it hurts as much now as it did then.0 -
Ok.........so here is my poem. I cannot write it without crying
To one who bears the sweetest name
and adds a luster to the same
who shares my joys
who cheers when sad
the greatest friend I've ever had
Long life to her
for there's no other
Will take the place
Of my dear Mother.

She bought a plaque for her mom in 1950 with this poem. I them bought her a cedar box in 1976 with the same inscription.
She did not have a long life, but she packed a lot of love into the years He gave her.0 -

Thanks everyone for their words of support.
My sister and I drove down to the cemetary and put flowers on both sets (maternal and paternal) grandparents and my mom's grave too, who is buried right next to her parents.
After 17 years, it doesn't get any better. I still remember that Sunday morning when I was in the Army and I was on 24 hour duty that day. I had went home to grab some movies that I rented and that is when I got the call from my brother and sister...............0
