I went over by 1,150 calories today?

And you know what? I don't even care. Soooo, tonight was my Dad’s birthday. We had barbeque pizza from Domino’s and Dairy Queen cookie dough ice cream cake with appetizers and brownies. I went over my daily limit by oh, about 1,150 calories. I was beating myself up this morning worrying about what I was going to eat at the party and how I was gain so much weight, etc. But tonight, I just enjoyed myself. I ate everything I wanted and it was good! Sure, I will probably be up 2 pounds overnight, but tomorrow is a new day. During this holiday season, be positive and don’t let a “few” extra calories bring you down. Enjoy yourself, your friends and family, AND the food. You didn’t gain all off your weight overnight, so don’t let one night drag you down.

I like your attitude. :) I always relax a little during major holidays, and on a few random days when I just don't feel like eating at my calorie goal. My loss is a little slower than others, but I've maintained my sanity and been able to generally eat what I like and still lose.
  • First of all, this time of year sucks for tracking your calories! You have thanksgiving, christmas, new year's, and then birthdays, work potlucks for the holidays to add to it! If you are still al ittle concerned about putting on weight, spend an extra ten minutes working out for the next few days if you are doing any form of exercise. Or 5 minutes if you are short on time. Also, one actual pound of fat is 3500 calories, so unless you go over each day by that amount, you are not going to put on even one whole pound from one day of going 1000+ calories over. But I have to agree with the positive attitude. I have a work potluck on christmas day, and if I eat nothing but cookies, I'm already okay with it!! Probably head to the ER with a sugar coma, but hey, it's CHRISTMAS!!!

I added a special food to my foods called "jv big feast-my bad" I allocated a whole days worth of calories to it. When I blow it I put this in and start over the next day.

Awww your post made me remember one day this spring, I was going to a Royals game with friends so I made sure to eat dinner before so I wouldn't make bad choices at the ballpark.

Ate dinner again at the ball park.

Best freaking new york or whatever it was dog and doritos EVER. I didn't gain any weight and it was totally worth it. In real life, it happens. Don't even think about trying to make up for it or exercise it away or freak out, just let it be :)

    Glad you enjoyed yourself!

Being over 1150 in a day just means you won't lose as much this week if you get back on track tomorrow. 1150 is less than 1/2 a pound that you won't lose. If you are up tomorrow, it's water weight. Get right back on the horse. Life happens.

I gotta just love your style! I had the dreaded Chinese Buffet for lunch today. I have always just put it at 2500 quick add calories. I eat about 1/3 of what I used to and no dessert anymore at all, but I still put that 2500. And then drive myself crazy trying to out-exercise my lunch.

I've gone over my goal most days, but tonight I went over because I was testing Christmas candy. For science. Some of it failed and will probably be tested again tomorrow.

You know what? -- You won by logging it. Awareness is the key. So you went over. Maybe by a lot. But it was a CHOICE you made and one that you're being fully accountable for. And if you gain as a result, you know why and how to reverse that gain. That's what Charlie Sheen would call "winning" -- big time!

But you won't gain by eating a bunch of junk once. You'll be fine and you scratched that itch -- good for you! :drinker:

I've gone over a couple times too.. Sometimes by 2,000. Seriously. But it's not an everyday thing. and I didn't punish myself by exercising excessively after. I just rebooted the next day. Back to normal.

yup. we all have "those days". it's how we handle it that determines overall success or not. in my opinion anyway.

If you are like me I just keep reminding myself at times like this that I'm in it for the long haul. This is a part of life and life is meant to be enjoyed... even the extra calories on occasion. We didn't "put it all on" in one day and it won't all come off in one day either. Just think of it as the tortoise and the hare. Remember who won the race? Yup...that's how I feel about it.
I'm glad you had fun & celebrated your dad's birthday with him! NO GUILT! Life is too short for that.
  • Well done. I see so many people posting well done to those that eat under 1000 every day, so well done to you for eating over.

That's what I was thinking. I went over by more calories than some people on here eat in a whole day.

Hmmmm.... I had a very similar day yesterday. We had a retirement party at work and there's all these holiday goodies and next thing I know BAM! Unfortunately I've had a few red days this week and a 3 lb gain on the scale this week. But the holidays only last a few more days and these extra lbs that came back to visit are going to be kicked back out....
