Inner Thigh... HELP!

I can loose weight EVERYWHERE but my inner thigh... It's almost like I'm holding on to a little pouch of baby fat. I do high intensity workout and strength training with weights. I always challenge myself so I know I'm doing a good amount of weight lifting... What's the deal?!

I need tips too, if there are any, because I am in the exact same boat! Very frustrating. I need to stop losing from the waist up and just lose on my thighs now :)
  • Your best bet (and this goes for belly fat too b/c these are the two hardest places for women to lose fat) is sprinting, or the equivalent of sprinting in the weightroom. You have to get your heart rate into the fat-burning zone. Running sprints or doing circuit training in the weight room is the best way to achieve the goal. Regular weight lifting will build muscle and help keep you healthy, but that's all it's designed for - not so much for cutting fat.
  • This is info i have gotten off of a call me maybe squat challenge by casey ho(???), I think that is her name, but she said doing plie squats helps firm the inner thighs. Look them up! She has a ton of awesome videos by the way!!

I know you've heard this a billion times but you can't spot reduce. The body will lose fat where it wants to and you can't dictate that. With that said: adductor exercises will help strengthen and give muscle to your inner thighs. I do either the machine or attach the ankle cuff to the cable and do it that way which is a lot harder than the machine and engages more leg muscles.

    ETA: And plie squats

I have 2 really horrible words for you... Squats and Lunges! My legs have ALWAYS rubbed together, even when I was 115 lbs (I'm 5'9") but even at my heaviest, when my trainer had me doing vast amounts of squats and lunges I started to get a thigh gap. It's really not about losing any fat there as much as it is toning up the muscles.

Nobody else ever says it, but the trainer at the gym I am a member said for me to use the stair climbing machine to help my inner thighs. ???

It is true you can't spot reduce, but with a combo of leg heavy exercises like squats, lunges, deadlifts and plie squats, and a combo of body weight stuff like sprinting intervals, jump squats (frog jumps), and a good diet you can make it much much better.

Unless you aren't eating properly, in which case you end up with largely-muscular and still-fat legs.

Just cautioning the thread starter, here.
  • I've started working out with Beachbody Brazilian Butt Lift (50 minute sculpt workout with weights - 3 times a week) and have visibly firmed up my inner thighs...but I still have about 30 lbs to lose, so I don't know what it will look like once the rest of the fat has melted off...soon I hope :-)
  • Thanks everyone! That really helps! i've been eating good i believe... about 90% paleo for the past couple weeks. It was tough cutting out half and half from my coffee but I'm making it through. Starting 100% paleo on the day after Christmas... fingers crossed! Hopefully then, in addition to my intense workouts, more plie sqauts, i can start to see a real change!!! Best of luck to all of you! Thanks for the advice and encouragement!

The only time I've been able to do it is just by losing more pounds / fat. I had a thigh gap at one time but was way too thin.

Correct, you basically have to just loose more fat. Of course, the next 5 lbs might STILL come from elsewhere if this is the way your body is programmed so you might just get even leaner arms and back and than MAYBE the next 5 lbs after that will come form your inner thighs. I ALSO, hold fat in my legs (unusual for a man) till I'm VERY shredded but there is not much I can do other than just keep getting leaner. Squats, stairmaster, etc. will NOT cause you to loose fat from your legs but it might give you a bit more muscle mass in legs which will make the fat that's there less visible since your muscles will be popping out though the fat.
