Hi! I just started taking MFP seriously for the last month or so and have been losing weight and feeling great. The only problem is the weekends! My family goes out to eat a lot on Fri. and Sat. and I am a little less strict on those occasions. I'm afraid that it may be too much eating out (twice a week). Then there is days like today where I couldn't control myself and just ate like 1000 calories on a meal and popcorn at the movies!! I haven't done that in a long time and now I feel horrible! Does anyone have experience with balance and moderation when it comes to eating out? Also, if you do let yourself cheat ,do you feel horrible and obsess over it for hours?

Try to obsess BEFORE you go out. This way you can plan what you are going to eat and feel in control. Make your meals fit your calories and your plan, eat lighter ahead of time or exercise more or both. Try not to obsess over meals gone by, own them, relish them. If you are eating healthy the rest of the week, you are in positive territory and are making progress.

You need to forgive yourself and move on. Its not the end of the world. Will it slow your progress? Of course. But this is a lifestyle change not a diet. Things happen and today is a new day.

Remember one clean meal will not make you skinny so one bad meal won't make you fat. It's what you do consistantly that counts.
