Which part of the ankle and how do I fix it?

Last winter I tried to run on the treadmill and totally pi$$ed off my left ankle. It had been doing okay but got angered again when I did calf lifts earlier this week. Now obviously that means don't do them again or do them with less weights etc...BUT I was wondering if anyone know what part of the ankle this was and how to help it be less angry in the meantime...and maybe how to avoid angering it again?
The pain is right where my thumb is (ignore the ugly feet, feet are ugly be default)

Well the bony bit is called medial mallleolus, so I'm assuming you're pointing to one of the ligaments that help move the foot side to side. Have you tried going to a running shop when you buy new shoes? They get you to run on a treadmill and *kitten* your gait and recommend shoes with the appropriate arch support. Also maybe try doing foot warm-up exercises.0

I haven't been to a running shop yet, I really need to go. right now it is just annoying because going up the stairs hurts...just from doing the calf raises.0

You might just need to do some regular ankle mobilization. Have you ever sprained, twisted, or rolled that ankle?
I rolled and broke mine probably 30 years ago and to this day I still have to manually mobilize it from time to time.
I do a variation of this:

You can do it without the block, just lunging forward. Doesn't seem like it would do much but it does.0 -
Is the pain soft tissue or deeper? Could a stress fracture be a possibility?0
