Okay. I'm at my wits end.
I just ate some popcorn, and I have no clue whats up with the label. Every single time I eat popcorn I measure it out with a measuring cup. I almost always get 6-8 cups. Not 11 like the label states. So how the frick are you supposed to count your calories??

  • Gah! I'm so glad I'm not the only one with this problem. Also, the serving sizes are measured all weird and made me think that I was eating like half the calories that I was for the longest time. Lol.

I always eat Orville Redebacher's 94% fat free propcorn and it is 7.5 cups per bag and 120 calories for the entire bag.

Weigh it with a digital scale.

i make my own. Its 62 cals for 2tblsp which makes quite a bit popped.
  • air pop it and measure the cups you take... and then count the cups of air popped pop corn?

oh my gosh I'm so glad I'm not the only one! lol. This has bugged me for a really long time... I mean, it never adds up to the cups it says it contains and then there are a few scraggler kernels so you know that's not the missing 5 cups lol... why must they make it so confusing.

Anyway, I have no clue how to pop my own so ill have to look into that. Very good idea, guys thanks. :)

go to the store in the popcorn area of the chip aisle.
    get a bag of kernels
    pay
    go home
put 2tblspn of kernels in brown paper lunch bag
microwave about 2-3mins (watch it though it WILL burn)
    eat

you can also measure out using 1/4c or larger and put about 1-2tblspn in a large pot on the stove. Put 3 kernels in with the oil. When you hear the kernels pop- add the rest of your measured cup. CONSTANTLY shake the pot until popping has just about stopped. Eat.

Easy, healthier and SO much cheaper

Make your own and measure the kernels out or weigh before eating on the scales x

My air popper has saved me. It tastes better and I get so much mor than the microwave stuff. My new favorite thing to do is pepper it. Yum.

Walmart has the Microwave airpopper. Buy some Orville Redenbocker Kernels....6 TBSP (3oz on your food scale) = 250 cals BUT 58g of carbs. It fills the entire bowl and then you can also add some 'I can't believe it's not butter' spray.
  • Have any of you guys tried mustard on your popcorn? My co-worker introduced me to this strange notion. When she told me, I said, "Um no, that's disgusting," but then I tried it and it's fantastic!
