I just got a new elliptical machine...is the calorie burn the same if I work out for 10 minutes, then take a break and come back to it, as it is if I work out for the whole time all at once?

not the same. Only keep track of when you're actually on it.0

Workout is worth only if you do it for a long time without break (or very small, like 1 minute).
doing short efforts with long breaks is basically what we do everyday, so this isn't workout ^^
on an elliptical bike (or any cardio), your workout should be at least 20 minutes long ;-)0 -
I disagree with the others. 3 10 minute sessions should be pretty equivalent to a 30 minute session.

And above all, doing something is ALWAYS better than doing nothing.0 -

This....if you have to start small or it's the only way you can fit it in, then do it that way!0 -
woops, my bad! I've always read that short workout were useless... Well, just forget what I said before then ^^0 -
Thank you all for the advice! I am trying to stay on it, and am getting able to do so for longer periods at a time0
