Hi guys,

Here's my motivational thread. I'm aiming to go from 213lbs (15st 3 / 96.6kg) to 185lbs.

I'm going to the gym every day and aim to work out for at least 40 minutes at a hard pace on the cross trainer. I would go jogging but a) my knees are weak and b) I find it intensely boring.

Oh, I am using a free iPhone app called runkeeper to keep track of my exercise and calorie burn. I would highly recommend it to anyone ... you can use it on gym activities and it also tracks you via GPS for outdoor runs / dog walks etc.

Oh course, I'm using MFP to track my calories too :)

I am aiming to get down to 14st (196lbs) by May 23rd (my birthday) but maybe that's too much to ask....

Ok, here we go!

Starting Weight: 29th March - 213lbs

Weight 5th April - 211lbs

I use RunKeeper too on my Iphone it's a wicked app in conjuction to MFP!

Best of luck - I use the cross trainer at the gym too, far more exciting than the tredmill!

    All the best,

Yeah you're right, i'm mainly a Lotus Notes developer so spend hours looking at lines of code that should work but doesn't

Just decided to have quite a "normal" day today just to see roughly what I usually tot up ... wasn't going to go the the gym but after looking at the figure I think I will!!!

Starbuck Mocha - Grande (no whipped cream) - 260cals

    Lunch

    4x Slice of bread - 376 cals
    30g cheese - 125 cals
    1 can (small) beans - 147 cals
    1 Tunnocks Teacake - 91 cals
1 Can of Emerge Light (Asda Diet Red Bull) - 15 cals

    That's over 1000 calories before 3pm ... wow!!!

Fair enough, I don't have a starbucks every day (I'd be lucky to have one once every 6 months)... but it certainly goes to show!

Plus 30g of cheese is nothing! I'd usually use at least double that.... hmm

Well better to be in the know than go on blindly I suppose... off I go to the gym tonight!

WHen I started on MFP in MArch I was also shocked at the number of calories consumed, I thought I was doing OK but obc=voiusly not.

I've had to cut down a lot to reach my daily targets.

Watch out for the sugar value as well

Well I'm certainly eating better now as I'm much more aware of calorie content and portion size although I'm not currently using the food tracker part of MFP.

Been slack with the gym the past week but am firmly back on it now and so was surprised to see that I'd lost weight.

I'm feeling much fitter and am gradually building my exercises up in both length and restance...

    21lbs / 9.5kg to go!
