Xmas, Enjoy it or behave?

Now that Xmas is well on its way, what have people decided to do?(Food and nutrition wise)
For me as I have been doing my utmost to behave for the last 45-50 days I have just decided to relax and enjoy it Calories and all, But the downside is obviously in the New Year when I will have to start all over again (I will be sticking to my calories in between Xmas and New Year tho). What will you be doing? and is it worth 1 week of indulgence for 4 weeks of recovery?

I am certainly eating more than usual and far less healthily than I normally do. But I am trying to do it within reason, i.e. not eating everything in sight just because it is there. I am also keeping up the exercise (I ran this morning and on Christmas Eve morning, and went for a walk after lunch yesterday). I just feel it would be harder to get back to my good habits if I stopped.0

After looking at my Calories for the past week I only can think of one word to descrive how I will feel after New Year......

I was a terrible two nights. I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas Day Nights. I must have eaten 3500 calories of rubbish both nights, all that fizzy pop and chocolates left lying around.
I am starting today starts with a good 7 mile run.0 -
It is Xmas, I ate. I logged it, come to about 1200 cals just for lunch. It was worth it! This morning a 20 mile damage control long run was in order.0

Behaved
I want to lose weight now and not wait til a certain date to do so. My Christmas lunch/dinner consisted of a small portion of roast beef, vegetables, and a small piece of bread w/ butter. I had a couple glasses of wine and avoided all the fatty dishes and desserts. I'm proud of myself and am hoping for a loss on the scale this week with Xmas and all!0 -
behaved for sure.. I mean, I ate a bit of everything, but moderation works right for me.0

I'm so embarassed and so mad at myself, I gained 8 lbs. I saw that this morning and couldn't stop crying. I can't believe I failed myself so badly. To anyone who can still follow your diet, congratulation!!!! Definetly pat yourself on the back, you are awesome. You should be so proud of yourself. Believe me the "enjoying" the holidays has had no "joy" for me, I feel like a failure. The 1 week endulgence is NOT worth the weeks it's gonna take me to get back to where I was.0

Ack!!!! I didn't behave.. There was 2 dinners and now a day of rest and another dinner on Thursday.. I need to behave on this one.. Ugh...0

I set to maintain which lasted 2 days lol I am back to my normal cals yesterday I felt so full it was stupid and I didn't even eat that much. just can't do it anymore finally realised my body tells me when it's had enough0

haha I can at least say I didn't have desserts.... mainly, it was pumpkin pie, and I don't like pumpkin pie but with new years, for me, its an easier way to count from 1 than 300 something.0 -
Just weighed myself, by some sort of Miracle I have only put 1lb on, how they heck that happened I will never know! I was expecvting 4-5ib easy! time to walk the dog methinks0

I have tried to behave. Although I haven't eaten as badly as people around me I still feel stuffed.0

I'm enjoying it for 2 days but not going overboard if I can help it. Yes, I have had mince pie, Christmas cake, a full Christmas dinner and wine. Yes, I may well have put on 7 or 8 lbs but I am not looking until my normal weigh in day, which is this coming Saturday.
After today (26th Dec), I will be back on track, having enjoyed myself. This year we have bought far less and prepared far less, so there won't be much in the way of temptation around the house. The weather also looks like it could be good for at least a couple of days, so I will be able to get out and cycle. The remaining days of this week (Thursday and Friday) will be damage limitation days but all done in the knowledge that hell, yes, I DID enjoy myself for a couple of days.
Time enough tomorrow (27th Dec) to firmly move on.
Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we diet!0 -
I was actually very good and stayed under on the 24th and 25th. Going vegan definitely helped because there's not much I can eat. I don't drink so I won't be using any calories on alcohol on the 31st. I'd much rather do it this way. The day after a cheat is always the hardest day to stay on track. Eliminating all cheat meals made things so much easier for me.0

Definitely enjoy . But I think my stomach shrunk because I only went over by about 300 cals twice. And I ate whatever and however much I wanted, a nice feeling .0

Christmas is one of the reasons I joined this site. In the past I'd always get back into addictive habits and it would take me forever to get turned around again. Tracking has helped me see the truth right in front of me and really enjoy what I'm eating rather than wondering what damage I might be doing. I keep it light on the carbs and enter my meal - then decide how much of what desert to eat. I try to choose one treat (the best) rather than a sample of everything. It helps me to enter the food before eating it, because then I can better play with the amounts. I like special cheese at Christmas time - in the past I'd buy piles of cheese and meats & butter & breads etc for Christmas Eve supper, blow the budget, have lots of leftovers, and oh my! Now I buy one special cheese, serve it to my family for night snack with pear or watermelon every other day or so until it's gone before buying another. Doing a few extra workouts on crazy food days has also helped keep my calories under my goal amount. Haven't weight myself yet and the season isn't over but so far I'm happy with my success.0

I wouldn't worry so much- it's very unlikely that you could eat enough to gain 8 lbs in a week. (assuming that 1 lb = TDEE + 3500 cals) I bet most of that is water from sodium uptake in that time... I will be up 4-5 lbs in a day with extra sodium... 2 days of drinking lots of water and it's gone.0 -

^^True that. You should never weigh yourself right after a binge - wait a couple of days. Just like you can't lose 7 lbs of fat with one day of starving yourself, you can't pack it on in one day of pigging out0
