Hi there, I'm from Singapore, an almost 16 year old Chinese girl. :)

I used to be thin when I was young... had a BMI of 18.7 when I was 6, and became a little on the heavy side when I turned 10. My BMI is now 24.4, and I'm still increasing. :'( I'm 165cm (5"5) tall and weight 66.5kg (147 pounds).

Hoping to reach 57kg (126 pounds) by the end of next year... crazy goals of a crazy person. But the people around me really do make me feel inferior because everyone has a BMI of about 19. :'( I'm the fattest in the family tree and amongst my friends. I really don't like shopping for clothes because I can hardly fit into them. And well, I get judged a lot during family gatherings and during height and weight check-ins during school.

I don't really like logging food because it makes me feel really guilty. It doesn't help that my brother is underweight... and super tall. Well that's about it. Hope you guys can support me on my journey to losing weight. :)

  • I feel ya, I'm a Latina but live in the Philippines another Southeast Asian country where women's average weight is 40-45kgs (90-100lbs.) and even if I'm 19% body fat and is skinny but toned by international standards but here I'm also having hard time finding tops that will fit not only my torso but also my chest and shoulders and especially jeans that can accommodate women with booty. And so I have to go to imported European and US clothing brands to find outfits that fits me perfectly.

I understand the huge pressure we are facing here in Asia particularly the crazy Asian standard of "sexiness" but don't let it bother you. The most important thing to consider is being healthy.

Feel free to add me if you want.
  • I don't know... my friends were horrified that they had hit the 40 kg mark the other day. I just went and hid in a corner of the classroom. I never dare to wear tight fitting clothes because the moment I have a bit of a belly, people call me fat. I can wear clothes from Asian brands, but most of the time I would be a size L. Sometimes, I find that the clothes don't flatter me at all. Since I used to dance, I now have very large thighs which are not in proportion to my hips and skinny calves. :/ I have long legs and a short torso, which means my belly is huge. :'(

I know it's important to be healthy, that's why I'm trying to lose weight through exercise and a healthy diet instead of starving myself. But as a teenaged girl, I do feel the pressure a lot and I always hate on my weight.
