I'm just curious, but in the Food DB, when it says for instance, Tangerine (mandarine organge), raw is this just the fruit part? The skin can add about 20% to the weight of a small mandarine orange and I'm just curious.

Thanks!

I didn't know anyone ate the peel/skin of a tangerine.

Hahaha I do eat the entire apple minus the stem, however I don't eat the skin of a mandarine orange!

My question was what the DB entry actually represents. Does it represent the weight with or without the skin.

ie, if 100g of Tangerine, raw contains 53 calories does the 100g count the skin or not...

    Thanks!

It is counting the "meat" of the tangerine only. It is not counting skin....

right, so for volume or weights, it is simply to edible parts.

most fruits do also list something like small, medium or large, with diameter of the fruit/veggie too if you don't want to have to cut something up and measure it to enter it.
