yes, this is a fitbit question.

Okay, I have my net calories set to 1700 calories, and my FitBit says I've burned around 1900 something today (I'm lazy today, shush)
It isn't giving me the extra calories burned. Idk why. Is it supposed to?

Where do I put my weight goals in? Do I put them both on Fitbit and on MyFitnessPal?
See, I don't like it when it says that I've netted 2000 but my MFP is set to 1700 and it doesn't give me any extra calories0 -
I don't have it, but usually it's the non-understanding complain that yes indeed it should sync that across.
Now, you have eating goal set to 1700 manually, right?
But what does MFP have your maintenance calories at?
My Home - Goals page.
If that is greater than what FitBit is sending across, and you don't have negative calorie option enabled, you'll see nothing.
I'll mention that if you are going to try to hold to the reasonable deficit method based on % off TDEE, then you won't really be able to sync, because MFP just doesn't work that way.
Now, you can see what calorie value your % deficit ends up being, set the MFP Activity level to match about what FitBit sees at a non-exercise TDEE type day, select the weight loss goal that is close to that % Deficit method, and then sync up and enjoy the constantly changing adjustments to your eating level.0 -
Maybe I'm just wishing for something that doesn't work. haha.0

I have it set to sedentary right now because I'm not really doing much at all since it's break. I'm being quite lazy. (I need to get a little more active at least. Winter does this to me...)
So I'm seeing if maybe I have negative adjustments set it'll turn out better. I have it to lose 1 lb a week on FitBit, but no MFP I have it to maintain. So far it looks like it might have solved my problem... not sure yet, though. Since it's barely 1.0 -

Take the FitBit TDEE estimate (1900 or whatever several avg days end up being), divided by the MFP Mifflin BMR they are using (Apps - BMR calc).
There's your multiplier that MFP should be using too for non-exercise days, to match up with what FitBit is using. Sadly FitBit using Harris BMR as basis for calorie burns, but may be close enough though inflated.
So see which of MFP's activity levels is closest, to cause the least amount of adjustments.
1.25 is Sedentary
1.35 is Lightly Active
1.45 is Active
1.55 is Very Active.0 -
Thank you! I tried this and got 2271 for my maintenance and so it seemed to be around the lightly active adjustment. (Once school starts up again, it'll probably change because I'll be able to go to the gym and such)
Looks like my BMR was 1728 so I should probably up that cal a little bit since I was trying to eat at 1700 (I set this today and ended up eating over anyway.)0 -

That's enough info to nail it.
BMR 1728 (according to MFP anyway)
TDEE 2270 (according to FitBit) or 1.31 multiplier (between levels)
Deficit 15% (according to EM2WL) or 340 calories
TDEG 1930 (if following that method)
Set MFP to Sedentary. Which is 110 too low.
Set loss goal to 1/2 lb weekly. Which is 90 too low for what you could do.
MFP should set eating goal to 1910. Close enough.
Any days you go over because of exercise, you will receive those adjustments to eat more, as is correct.
Any days you move less, you will receive those too, but you don't want to go that way, so I'd NOT chose the option for negative adjustments, or they'll adjust you right below your BMR.0 -
See - I seem to have the opposite problem. My fitbit is giving me too many calories. I had well over 3,000 for yesterday!0
