Hi, I'm a primary teacher who needs to lose about 40 lbs. I'm married with a nine-year-old daughter. I started tracking on MFP yesterday. Months ago I tried it for a little while but wasn't ready yet. I'm pretty sure I am now. I'm tired of being out of breath, and I want to be able to do active things with my family (not to mention my 21 little monkeys in the classroom). If anyone feels like being friends on this journey, I sure would love the company and would really enjoy getting to know you too.

I also work full time as a hotel sales manager and graduated college in 2009. Since working full time I have gained a lot of weight :( My office is pretty sedentary and even though I am on my feet a good deal, I dont really seem to lose anything from it. My office are also big snackers and everyone brings FOOD all the time! I started my job at 135 lbs and went up to 170 within 2 yrs. Once I hit that mark I knew I had to do something as I felt disgusting physically and mentally. I cleaned up my diet majorly in September-October 2012 (this past fall) and dropped pretty quickly to 155 pounds, where I am currently. I did NO additional exercise, just cleaned up my diet. I ate 100% soup, salad, green smoothies or protein. I ate nothing else, but this still gave me enough variety when dining out and being sociable. I made a green smoothie each morning (greensmoothiegirl.com has lots of info!) and ate CLEAN. Weight peeled off.
Then I went to Las Vegas with my boyfriend, fell off the wagon due to lack of clean food, got engaged (yay!) and gained 4 pounds through the holidays. So I am still working on my goal of 130-135lb range. I like to do weight loss in increments, so My NEXT goal is 150 pounds. That would be an 8-9 pound loss (I fluctuate so much daily, heavy water carrier).

Packing my lunch and being prepared ahead of time helped a lot. And just sayign NO THANKS to treats! Also the green smoothies alone made me feel tons better - I noticed a marked difference in my energy and moods by drinking one daily. Best of luck and I will be along with you on the journey!
  • Thank you for the warm welcome, everyone! I'm looking forward to getting to know you better.

Brook - sounds like you have done very well at clean eating. Congratulations on getting engaged! That's so exciting.

Cindy - sounds like we lead similar lives!

Mick - good for you for being at this for over a year. That's a great inspiration.

Poetry in Pic - wow, I have such respect for what you do! This year I have several special needs kiddos in my class. Luckily I have the most wonderful TA in the world.

Kate - I think it's amazing that you are wearing so many hats in your life right now. It's great to meet you!
