Hi guys, I am 23, an Asian female with an office job. I am intended to hit the gym after work.
However, after the working hour, I am too exhausted.
Also, my period messes up my workout routine every month from 4 days to 2 weeks time. I hate this
Does anyone have the same problem ??
How do you guys deal with it

Maybe start your day with a workout instead, after work can be challenging. Find what works for you, it might not always be ease. I have no advice for the other problem...0

What time do you normally get up for workout ?? My gym opens at 8.30am, Its too late for me to go to work. But I can try doing it at home! Skipping rope ..0

it's a habit. decide you want to start a new habit and force yourself to go . i go after work, even on days i work 10 hour days. working out to me is just as essential as flossing, brushing my teeth, taking a shower, etc.
if it were easy then everyone would be in shape and have hot smoking bodies0 -
Edited - just realized you cannot go in the morning.
To be honest, you just have to do it. Women who work at least one full time job, sometimes more and who have kids to look after manage it.0 -
I find it really difficult also, especially when my busy season comes along...which is about to start up again.
I do calisthenics at home or get up earlier in the morning for a walk.0 -
I encounter a similar problem in that one of my 3 kids will somehow always seem to mess up my workout plans. Like today I had planned to workout during my one year old's first nap. Well, he will not go to sleep. So he's sitting here in my lap instead. I've tried getting up super early before my kids to workout but I am just too tired that early in the morning and I end up feeling sick working out that early in the morning.0

If you pay for it ...you will go...I find i'm tired too but when I get there and I do it -- I feel sooo much better and more awake!
WILL POWER! FORCE YOURSELF...meet someone there so you're honest to go0 -

1. Could you switch gyms?
2. Could you walk or do bodyweight exercises on your lunch break?
3. Why does your period interfere with your workouts?
I'm a mom of 2 kids with a full-time job, and I work out mornings before work, whether it's that time of month or not.0 -

My periods are very heavy and painful, with nausea to boot, so I just drop my exercise to maybe 3 times instead of my normal 6. Some women's menstrual cycles can be hell on the body - a little extra rest during that time may be beneficial.0 -
yeah ihave the same problem on my period i just cut back, i still run though. when you are active on your period it really makes a giant impact and for me it makes it lighter during and after i work out, cramps go away, it's a great feeling0

1) They gym is the only one around the town which does not need me to pay parking. In summary, the only drawback about the gym is that they open LATE
2) This is not my thinking but sadly in my country, we dont have the culture and its does not seems normal to do bodyweight during the workout. But I do roughly 500 M of walking.
3) During my period, it crams as if it should be that way, and I always feel REALLY REALLY sad for no reason.
But I am agree with all of you guys. Sometimes I just have to MAKE IT!!
People(excluded MFP) around me, they are so negative. They dont believe in working out, eating well and staying healthy.
They believe in taking some sort of 'healthy pills'. They are always so demotivated0 -

Yea. It crams like nobody business. Plus, I am sort of emotionally unstable as in I feel miserably sad and left out.0 -

Hey thanks for the suggestion! Just checked out their website...0 -
What's your sleeping schedule like? Start off by setting a good routine of going to bed at a decent time every night.... you might find that you have the energy afterwork.0

If there is not any special night out, it would be 11pm - 6.30am.0 -
I workout after work too. The trick for me is to *immediately* get changed into my workout clothes before I do anything else when I get home. If I sit down for "just a few minutes"', it turns into the whole night. Sometimes I'll change at work before leaving.
As far as my period, I go by how I feel. It's ok to give yourself a break. Just don't let it turn into a sweets/carb inhalation fest. ;-)0 -

You are SOOO RIGHTTTT about the "just a FEW minutes" which turns into whole night.
Sadly the a sweets/carb inhalation fest always come with the packet. hahahahaha
What I do today is that, I keep on reminding and motivating myself that I am able to workout and I'll feel real good after that!
Its almost 3pm here, so far so good0 -
I would suggest to you would be to not have a set time to work-out. do it when you feel you can. Sometimes that might be the morning and sometimes you might feel like it at night time. Just set a goal to do a work-out that day. let you body determine the time of the day you get it in. As for the period, YES that messes me up every dam month. For me areobic activity is almost out of the question at my period time. try more "in place" workouts on your period like using weights or maybe the stationary bike. I hope some of this helps alittle. Good luck to you.0

I think it's about just doing it. I leave at 7 and home at 5, eat my dinner then hit the gym nevermind how tired I am, as even just walking on the treadmill is a good workout, if you do high gradient it can even be harder than running! With the periods I know its a individual case, but I find my cramps and sour mood go away if I work out during my periods, typically more cardio than strength workout helps for this in my case, its just about going and seeing how it affect your body. Woman were not meant to do nothing doing their periods, its only in the last few centuries we've had the option to0

I work out at home. I use workout DVDs that I own, or I watch some on You Tube (there are a lot on You Tube!!) I get up 30-45 minutes earlier than I would need to, do the workout, and then get ready for work. I'm much too lazy to get myself moving after I get home from work.
As far as your monthly issue...if you need to take a day off, just do it. Skipping one day isn't a big deal. But, really be honest with yourself about how much your *need* that day off or if you can deal with it. Working out hard on that *bad* day is tough. But maybe a nice walk in the neighborhood would be manageable. Or Yoga. Often it actually helps you feel better.0
