Had Burger King tonight, still hungry!
High in calories, low in satisfaction.
Just not worth it.

Totally agree - seems like a great idea at the time - but always a disappointment.

Best part is you'll probably be feelin' it in the morning! I get kinda sick after eating crappy food now.

I love the Taco Bell Fresco selection. The chicken and steak soft tacos have 120/130 calories each and I find them very filling. They are delicious too!

Yea I turned down a Big Mac and Fries on Sunday. I looked at it and couldn't bring myself to eat it. I knew I'd feel like you if I did. Don't beat your self up though. You've done a great job and this slip up won't derail all the great work.

See, when I go to Burger King its the Veggie Burger, Small fries, and diet coke. Once in a great while it is totally worth it, especially since that meal is "only" 760 calories. :) The whopper has 3.5 more fat and twice the calories than the BK Veggie. ;)

I agree. I do get the cravings for it on occasion and I get this mental build up, remembering how it used to taste. I take that first bite....and it sooooo not what it used to be. I don't know why I continue to fall for the craving. I wind up throwing most of it out because I'd rather not spend my calories/fat/sodium/etc on something that doesn't taste good. Downing empty calories for absolutely nothing. :grumble: I need to remember this moment when the next craving hits.....

Agreed. I'd rather order it out for a nicer restaurant or make it myself so I can control what goes into it. I don't remember the last time I ate out when it wasn't something like Subway...just isn't satisfying!

I love those! I just wish they had less sodium.

I get that. I want what I used to get from the fast food places. But the last few visits, when I did give in to the craving, I would hate it. It didn't taste good & I didn't feel good after. Even the quality wasn't the same as it used to be. I used to love wendy's fries. But the last 3 or 4 times I had them they were cold, hard and gross. But I guess that was a good thing, because now when I get those cravings I remind myself how crappy it will be, like last time, and the craving is killed. :)

we should all print this thread out, and put it in our purses/wallets, to bring out and read every time we might be about to order fast food!

I have leaned to try and eat fast food for lunch, so that I can prepare my exercise accordingly. Also it helps not to eat it late that I don't at least walk some of it off before bed time.
  • I agree! There's times I crave it, esp mcdonalds fries but I always feel sick afterwards and hungry again within an hour or so. Definitely gonna stick to "lighter" fast food options from now on.

The people that are still eating fast food?
Do you know the calorie count?

I like eating food like many of you.
After I start calculating, to me it didn't matter how it taste anymore, I'd rather eat 1500 calories in 3 meals or 5 meals than 1 meal.
Each fast food place might differ a bit, but in general this is in my mind.
A normal combo is 1500 calories. The biggie size or supersized combo's etc over 2000 calories.

    Burger = 500 calories
    medium Fries = 500 calories
Reg Soft drink = 500 calories

Even the BK Veggie meal has 760 calories but 33grams of fat and 1500mg of sodium -
I agree it's better than others , but almost 300 calories of that is fat.

I always try to remind myself when I'm wanting something "bad" that I've never, ever, not once wanted something bad, eaten something bad and NOT regretted it and that this time won't be any different. It usually works, but of course I'm not perfect!

I had enough calories to eat it, but just not a real "value" for my calorie-money!

I eat veggie burgers at home often, so I thought I'd "treat" myself to something different, guess I make regular burgers at home too, hmmmm what was I thinking???
    Thanks for your input-

You are so right! I was looking at their calorie menu posted on the wall, before I ordered, and even then I was thinking, this is not good. Tomorrow is a new day.
    Thanks!

I am there with you....it has gotten better, over time, it takes time to change behavior, but it is possible.

I take into account how much real food I could eat for the calories in one terrible burger. My thoughts are, if I am going to eat a burger, I am either going to make it at home where it can be full of awesome ingredients, or I am going to a great place to eat it so I fully enjoy it. We have to get over the "fast" idea of this fake food. Take time to enjoy your food!

    Woah that's crazy!

I do know the calorie count of the fast food I buy, but its nowhere near that high here! http://mcdonalds.co.nz/sites/mcdonalds.co.nz/files/images/Nutrition-Information-3-March-2010_0.pdf
eg McChicken 366, reg (medium) fries 330, reg (medium) coke 146 (although I usually grab a water or diet if available so 0) - 842 (696 with water/diet drink)

So that's seriously nuts, why do you think its so much higher there? Would it just be serving sizes? Coke is coke wherever, right, so for a regular coke to be around 500 there, that's 3 1/2 times the size of a regular coke here, iykwim.

    wow...

My numbers might be off by a bit. I have the 500-500-500 implanted in my mind to keep me away from those places.
    Also when I mentioned a burger I wasn't talked about chicken.

    McDonalds over here..

    McChicken 380
    Quarter pounder w/cheese 510
    Big Mac 540
    Medium fries 380
    Large fries 500
Large coke is 310 (32fl oz) not 500 as I mentioned.

    Burger King
    Whopper is 670
    Double cheeseburger is 460
    Medium fries 440
    Large fries 540
    Large coke 390

    Ahhh, gotchya! Nice tactic.

I think the beef burgers from fast food places taste like nothing, just like they're all bread or something. So I'm a total McChicken junkie. nom nom nom. I have about 2 a month, when I just can't take it any longer I skip lunch and stop by on my way home from work (2pm) for a late lunch!

Looks like a lot of your burgers are still 50 or so cals more than here.

    32 oz is about 2.5 - 3 cans yeah?

OK on the topic - have the fast food places there jumped on the weight watchers bandwagon? They're starting to do 6.5 point 'meals' here (I say 'meals' cos it's just a basic little burger and a side salad and water/diet drink, so ALL the points are coming from the burger...) which seem a total crock but they're getting people in and possibly choosing a better option I guess because they're there and so obvious.

We've really jumped onto the subway bandwagon here. When ever we feel like eating out we go Subway. Even our children request subway now!! It's a little better than the other fast food joints . :)
