I have a FitBit One and the Body Media armband. A lot of people do not like the armband because of the monthly fee, people see it, bulky, and the list goes on. I love my armband and my doctor uses the information to try and help me figure out what is going on with my body, lack of sleep, not eating enough, ect. I decided against the Striiv because the new smaller one does not donate to charity. I linked my armband with earnedit.com and my fitbit with everymove.com. I like that I earn points and am donating the points to various charities.
It comes down to personal choices and finances. The Fitbit one is 100 and no monthly fee and links with this account. Body media is on sale right now for 40% but does have a monthly fee of $6.95. I never miss the 6.95 and they both have excellent customer service. I mistakenly ordered the wrong size armband and they replaced them both for free.
If you have more detailed questions about either, please email me. Good luck and I hope you find the right item for you.
Fitbit - great for walking & running. BMF that and more, I use it for my Zumba Wii workouts. If you have an HRM then you may just want the fitbit.0 -
I use the bodymedia and can't imagine life without it. I have learned sooo much about my body and metabolism from it, and it links with mfp which is really nice. Yeah it sucks that its 6.95 a month, but in my opinion its been worth way more than that in terms of helping me get healthy. And considering what i was previously spending on junk food, its actually saved me hundreds and hundreds of dollars.
It isnt' really bulky for me other than people can see it if i wear sleeveless shirts. I never even notice i'm wearing it. If people see, they always ask and everyone thinks its pretty cool, in fact a few people have gotten one after seeing me wearing mine.
I love the data it provides, I can view my daily graph and see exactly what an exercise burned , minute by minute. I've been able to drastically improve my cardio workouts to get the most benefit from my time. Its also a huge motivational tool for me, because its always monitoring, there is no cheating and thinking no one is noticing. If you slack off or try and cheat through a day, you will have to face the facts when you look at the data.0 -
I use a bluetooth HRM that talks to my smart phone through a number of apps. It allows me to get all kinds of info including how long I've spent in each training zone, etc.
I have an older android phone, so I use the polar wearlink+. Works great.0 -
I use a fitbit for all-day calorie tracking and an HRM for workouts. I'm very happy with this combo as it helps me get a good idea of my TDEE and I find the fitbit motivating for getting me off my feet and moving more during daily activities.0

I use a Polar Heart rate moniter. I love it. I just ran out of battery power on it after 2 1/2 years of using it almost daily. I think that's pretty dang good. I liked it because the model I got specifies stats based on gender, age, height, weight, and uses the chest heart rate strap. It is pretty accurate. Amazon is where I ordered it from.0
