Water

If you are having trouble drinking your water try sliceing up and apple and put it in a pitcher of water with a cinnamon stick it tastes pretty good and adds some flavor, not sure if there are any calories

  • Who would have that something as easy as drinking more water would be the hardest thing for a person to do. Ugh!

Exactly this. Drink when you're thirsty, stop when you aren't. Don't like water? Add stuff to it, or drink other things. Tea, coffee, juice, soda, milk, whatever, just be mindful of calories if it has any.

Not True. The most common cause of kidney stones is not drinking enough fluids, especially water. If you have ever suffered from them you know how important Water is.I squeeze lemons and freeze them ice cube trays. I pop a few in my water every day. The acid in lemon also helps prevent stones. For UTI problems you can freeze the pure cranberry juice and pop that in your water too.

My weakness is diet coke!! It use to be vitamin water... I really like flavored water and sparkling water. Water really helps with hunger. sometimes your body is telling you your hungry because it needs more water. When I am at a restaurant I try to chug a glass or two before my food comes to help with portion control. I also like these lipton packets (for on the go).

    Good luck!!!

oh! I forgot to tell you, its no calories to be overly concerned about. a small apple is 77, medium is 95, and a large is 116. But this is for the entire apple. But this sounds great and i'll have to try it soon!

I find tea and coffee defintely has more calories in it than water - because I can't seem to drink either of those without cookies!

I am switching to herbal teas and this water suggestion is a great one for me; thanks.

Why do I feel thirsty after a tea of coffee, when a glass of water slakes my thirst?

My problem is I don't recognize when I am thirsty. And for others that may drink pop when they are thirsty - this sounds like a lovely idea. Thank you for sharing.

I find that pouring my water into a cup with a straw(fountain drink cup) I drink more water. Might not work for everybody but it does me.

To get my water I started by getting a 16 ounce glass. Fill it up to the top and drink it4 times a day. First thing in the morning. Right before lunch. When I get home from work. And right after exercise. It has it made it much easier I don't care to drink water but doing it this way I am able to do it.

I bolded the key word in your post for you. Being hydrated prevents kidney stones. That means consuming enough fluids, from any source. As for acid, just about every juice, tea, soda, and coffee is acidic, so that's also covered. Plain water is obviously an economical calorie free option, but it's nowhere near a solitary requirement for hydration.

Read the next two words "especially water". Soda and some teas have been known to help form some types of stones among other illnesses.

Anecdotal, as there is no scientific link between soda, tea, or juice and kidney stones in a properly hydated person. In fact, you need low fluid intake, in combination with high protein intake, or high soda, or juice intake. A person that's properly hydrated doesn't generally have to worry about it.

Agreed. There is no rule that says you have to drink actual H2O. You need fluids. Liquids. You can get them any way you want. If you get your fluids from milk or juice or fruit or soup, you count the other nutrients in there too. But the fluids in milk, juice, fruit, soup, etc are still fluids.
