Anyone here on the Wheat Belly Diet or eat wheat free? Just curious about it and if people who have done it see good results! I intend to go back to low carb the first of the week and was wondering if cutting wheat may also have good long term results. Don't need people telling me to eat sensible and this is just stupid. This post is specifically aimed at people who have done this and who will share their thoughts and results with me. Thanks!

We are just starting a gluten free trial to see if it helps my daughter and husband with digestive issues. We strongly suspect my daughter has celiac. I say suspect because we haven't got the bloodwork results back yet, but the symptoms are all there. My husband previously tried a grain free diet and experienced a dramatic decrease in tummy size, but no weight loss. Eating wheat makes him bloat up like crazy.0

I hope things get easier for your daughter!! Yeah, I think all the diets like this and low carb all help more with water weight than anything! I know they do intially, at least low carb helps me get rid of a ton of water weight! I will take it tho not to mention when I eat low carb, I dont have sugar spikes that make me want to take a nap an hour after I eat! Thanks for your reply!0

I skimmed through the Wheat Belly book this fall and went off wheat for 3 months as a result of that and some other stuff. I didn't notice any real difference in how I felt or in my belly size, which is where I hold fat, but, get this, my knees quit hurting in my workouts. Not a result I was expecting. Now I'm back to eating a little, as a treat for special occasions, but in general the book made me leery of eating it much. Not the first time I've read stuff about how highly engineered wheat has become and how it may not be the "staff of life" now that it once was. I bought some organic einkorn at the food co-op but haven't done anything with it yet.0

I am highly allergic to wheat so I eat gluten free not by choice but because I have to!
I have lost almot 65 Lbs since going gluten free, I cant say 100% that going gluten free caused my weight loss however I can say I feel MUCH better, not depressed, and no more stabbing pains for 1-3 days I will say going low carb/sugar because of insulin resistance has helped me lose weight and I am able to maintain/lose weight where as in the past nothing has worked.
To date I have lost 80% of my 87 Lbs by low carb/sugar, there are people on this site who will say thats bad etc, they eat carbs and dont gain weight, good for them. There is a small % of people out there who can only lose weight via low carb, I just happen to be one of the lucky ones. I will also like to note that my diet is being supervised by a doctor and I was put on a low carb diet when all other "diets" were exhausted.0 -
I have been on a gluten dairy and egg free diet before and felt significantly better my digestive symptoms cleared up and I had so much more energy. I reintroduced and felt fine for a while but then the symptoms crept back up on me. I am considering going gluten free again as i have read it can help with fibromyalgia symptoms. I might get that book to have a read is it available on kindle.0

My family is wheat/gluten free (trying to follow the primal blueprint) and have seen amazing results. My wife and I lost nearly 50 pounds between us, my knees/shoulders stopped hurting, my wife said she felt less bloated and our kids actually gained weight (awesome, since they are both under the average healthy weight for their age).
Admittedly, we've gained some of the weight back, but my wife is now 8.5 months pregnant, and has been craving potato chips (and I couldn't possibly let her eat them alone).0 -
I have decided to go wheat free because my doc suggested it. I do feel that I am allergic. I notice a difference in many things. Wheat is in everything! Have to look at everything or buy nothing boxed. I can eat wheat without life threatening reactions but, it makes my stomach feel better to just avoid it. It pretty much forces you to eat better. I need to lose weight any way! Potato chips -argh!!!0
