Hi all,
First this community is absolutely wonderful at helping and inspiring! I always come here for inspiration and easily find it
I won't make this long, but I am reeally really stumped. I have been working out hard for a month and watching calories...and not a single pound.
Now, let me add that in the past years I have yo-yo dieted way too much...and with my body type, as soon as I commit to exercise I lose weight QUICK! Easily 1-2 pounds a week....this time, I am DETERMINED, committed and want it so badly, more than anything! and for the life of me i can't shed a pound
I am eating around 1200 calories, usually eat back exercise calories. I do 1 round of shred by JM, than a 45 min brisk pace walk.
I lost weight in the summer, and had a very very stressful few months at work...and packed it on. I decided that my crappy mean boss isnt worth me neglecting my health and I have changed my attitude about work and how I deal with stress.
I know some may say its early, but I am working so hard and need to see any sort of improvement just to keep up my morale ;(
Thank you for anyyyyyy input

Hang in there and know that health is a long term lifestyle change; don't focus so much on an arbitrary number. You may have gained muscle as a result of working out, so that may have taken out what you've lost in fat. Also, try eating back only half your exercise calories. How many calories are you calculating for the JM shred workout? At max I'd say you can burn 250 from that. You may be over-estimating the burn.
Start taking measurements: you may have lost inches, but not pounds. It's important to measure for your own edification. Often when pounds have not come off, inches have, and knowing this will keep you motivated. Keep going, and know that because you're watching your calories and exercising, you're DOING IT RIGHT--period!0 -
Get a digital scale and a set of measuring cups and accurately measure EVERYTHING that goes in your mouth that has calories. It wasn't until I started doing that, that I realized the 1500 calories a day I THOUGHT I was eating was actually a lot more.0

Take before and after pics, measure your inches, maybe lose the scale for a while.
Also, this isn't what people like to hear, but my experience has always been that losing weight in pounds works best when I stick to low-impact exercise of walking and eating low cals. Working out and eating low never yields results for me. I get fit and love to lift weights now that I've lost the weight I wanted to, but let it be said that I lost that weight by diet alone.
If I were you, I'd prioritize. Are you most concerned with fitness, your size, or the number on the scale? There are different ways to going about them, because they aren't the same thing.0 -
Hello!! Welcome to MFP. It would be helpful to know your height, weight and goal weight. But, from experience I can tell you that eating 1,200 calories can often be a problem when losing weight. MFP automatically gives this setting to all users, but it doesn't mean it is your best option.

This is a basic TDEE calculator (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) it's how many calories you would eat to maintain your weight. This is just a basic estimation, but you're better off using this than the automatic settings.
My TDEE is about 2000-2200, so I eat 20% less calories to lose weight/fat which is around 1600-1800 calories. I always eat my exercise calories back. If you have any questions, message me or add me as a friend.0 -

Thank you all so much for your input!! I think I may be eating more calories than I estimate.;..I'm gonna try low impact exercising for a week or two...not quitting this time!!0
