Bump is a way of keeping a topic current...so that people see it instead of it dropping out of site. :)

I'm not new and I have no idea.......

I'm guessing it helps keep a topic 'new' or adds it to your 'My Topics' section???????

Thanks for asking, I am interested to know!

The topics that are most viewed and commented on are the ones you see when you go to the "Community" tab.....when someone comments "BUMP" it is because they think the topic is interesting and by commenting "BUMP" it bumps the topic to the top so other people can read it :)

I hope that helps and wasn't to confusing!!!

People type "bump" when they don't have anything to say or add to the post but they want it to get more exposure. In the forums, the posts at the top are the ones that have been commented on most recently. So, by replying, a person moves the post to the top of the forum (where people who haven't seen it are more likely to see it).

A lot of people also type "bump" when they're really "tagging" it to put it in "my topics" to read later.

Ok so I have been a member on here for about a year and I always thought when someone put BUMP it was their way of saying "way to go!' you know like *bump fists*!! I see it mostly on threads where people have done something good, so that is why I assume! If I am wrong people let me know.

You are wrong. But it is kind of a secondary meaning. Because, you wouldn't really want to "bump" a post you think is bad.
