Tracking a Crossfit workout

So if you are doing Crossfit workouts, how are you tracking them for exercise? Do you break down each exercise and log them all seperately or is there an easier way of doing it all as a group? Thanks!!

I'm breaking down each exercise, and having to average out sets for ease of 'entry'.
Did you find a better way ?

Tracking a WOD is frustrating. To get close, I usually just log it as running for the duration of the WOD, for example a 20 minute AMRAP would be 20 minutes of running. I know it is nowhere near the same thing, or calorie burn, but I figure it is something to log.
if anyone has solutions to this issue, I would love to hear them!0 -
I use circuit training as the measurement, because it is about as close as you can get to it. Although, I actually think it is underestimating the calorie burn during the more intense routines.0

Couldn't you wear a HRM to get an accurate calorie burn? Or as accurate as you can get! I use one while running, but also when I do group classes like boxing, group power, etc.0

i use the calesthenics. depending on what kind of crossfit your doing. that, or circuit training is the other close one. its really hard to determine how many calories are burned doing crossfit because there are so many different routines you could be doing. it all depends on what body parts you are focusing on or if its a full body crossfit routine.0

I'd suggest logging it as cardio --> circuit training, as someone else suggested. I actually use fitocracy to log my workouts, I think it is superior for stuff like keeping track of what weights I've done and easily seeing how much I have previously lifted for an exercise.0

An HRm is probably the worst way to track it. But, do whatever you want.
As an alternative, simply set your calories at a consent amount and don't log exercise. Then, you don't have to worry about how much you burn, just measure via the end results when you measure your body fat.0 -

There simply isn't a way.
An HRM is not designed for that kind of workout. You can Google the details if you want to research it. It's a lot of info. But, it's not designed for that and will give bogus info.
That's why the best way is to just set your calories to include exercise.. You could start with 200 over TDEE. And just monitor the results and adjust up or down depending on the results.0 -
Lots of great suggestions! Some I didn't even think about! Thanks, everyone, for your input! I will probably try a couple of different ways until I find what works best for me. I kind of like the idea of just not logging my exersice and adding a little bit to my daily calorie allowance....never thought about working it that way before. That might work the best for me! I will let you all know after some time of trying....and please, I would love to hear how things are working out for anyone else! Thanks again!0

I wonder if myfitnesspal would ever add individual workouts from P90X or Insanity? Insanity info claims you can burn 600 calories per workout so I just used aerobic for 45 minutes and that put me around 500 calories burned.0
