Hello,
I am considering getting myself a pull-up bar, but I am not sure what to choose, why, or to make sure it will fit my door. Any help/suggestion appreciated!

I have one that extends and then you just screw it into the door frame on both ends.
I never use it though because it feels kind of cramped. I am about to buy a 'power tower' which allows you to do pull ups, leg lifts and dips. If you have a little bit of room I would look into one. They are only about $100 or so.0 -

Hopefully the above will take you to a link to a pullup bar that is widely available in stores and on-line.
The advantage of this type is the harder or heavier you pull on it, the tighter it locks into the doorway, so no possibility of ripping it out of the doorframe under load.
I am working with one of these and hang resistance bands off the bar in a loop and drop one knee into them like a supportive sling to take some of my weight so I can do assisted pull-ups.0 -

I have this one and it is great! I found one T garage sale and one at a thrift store. Check used stores or ebay or craigs list before you buy new.0 -

this is the kind I have. It's worked great, very portable and secure, I've been able to move it from one doorway to another without a problem, provided it was a standard size doorway. It can also be used for tricep dips and crunches. Pretty happy for the $35 I spent on it.0 -

I just saw the video for this one, I have to say I'm sold haha. I'll try to find it on ebay/amazon but the onsite sale with the Abs support thingie is only $30, seems like a worthy buy!
Thanks to everyone else for all the suggestions!0 -
Well scratch that, apparently you can't order it in Canada..I was going to buy a second one for a friend's birthday even, their loss haha!0
