Women 5'4" to 5'5" progress and how long did it take you?

I found some old threads that are similiar but they are all locked so thought I would start a new one for inspiration. I am not close enough to my goal for progress photos but I am a little under 5'5"

SW March 2012: 178 (size 14)
CW: 165 (size 10, loose size 12)
GW: 135 (or a size 6)

I got down to 157 but after my wedding and honeymoon a couple months ago and the holidays, I realized I had packed some weight and inches back on . I want to keep my curves but drop body fat, the scale isn't the only thing I'm going by but have been amazed at the results.

I just started Insanity and got back on the wagon so I hope at my one year mark in March I can have a lot more progress to show. Thanks ladies!

I'm not at my goal weight yet but I'm close to my halfway goal. It took me a little of 2 months to lose 22 lbs. I'm on the Quick Weight Loss program.

    Height: 5'5"
    SW: 209, size 14/XL (October 2012)
    CW: 187, size 13
    GW: 145, I think that I'll be a size 8 or less

I'm 5'4", I started at 165, I'm 125 now, but at 17% body fat, I have gained muscle weight, I was size 12 to start and am a 0 now. It took me almost 3 full years of diet, exercise, gains, losses, plateaus etc. still think I'm a work in progress.

    I'm 5'3" - close enough?!

    Started February 2011.

    Starting weight - 213 lbs (XL, barely, size 16 pant - couldn't close the button :x )
Current weight - 121 lbs (XS, size 0 - 2 pant and dress)
Goal weight - 115 lbs (112 would be a dream!)
  • I started making some changes about this time last year (cut out takeaways etc) but I'd say it was February when I had to make big changes (hospitalised due to gallstones) and lost a stone very rapidly. Started MFP in June and have been hovering around goal weight for a couple of weeks now. I train with a PT once a week, eat high protein, try and train with weights and swim a couple of times a week. I'm smaller, but have kept my curves - I still have hourglass measurements - just a skinnier hourglass!

    SW: 191lbs UK size 18-20
    GW: 133lbs
    CW: 132-134lbs UK size 8

Here's a selection of staff photos of me from work over the past 3 years - September 2010, 2011, and 2012.

    Good luck!

I need to drop body fat, so I'm going to lose a bit more to as low as I can go, then bulk, then cut.
    I started Aug 18 2011

I just rejoined (again:)) and this time want to really make it stick! I am 141 right now and would like to be 125. I am 5' 3" and a 1/2 (I have to add that half being of shorter stature) It seems like I can always lose five pounds and then it's back up! I need to stay focused and this seem like the place for help:) I work out all the time (turbo jam, hip hop abs, running) but have found it harder to lose in my forties. I am going to have to committ to logging into the food journaling. Thanks for the inspiration! and here's to a new year!

This is how long it's taken me to pull this off, and I intend to keep going...or at least get steady at around 130!

Shorty- Excellent job! I've been dabbling with the idea of cutting weight then firming up but I'm still going to do Insanity or some lifting. When I lost weight at first, I was definitely getting smaller but I seemed to lose my *kitten* and my boobs quickly and still felt really jiggly :-( I've heard people doing both... losing weight then gaining some back in muscle or losing weight slowly while building muscle at the same time.

I'm kinda scared to lift and just add muscle under my fat but hoping from all the posts i've read on here that I will just firm up and lose inches in the process...

Hi! I am 5'4". I am pear-shaped. (The following are UK clothing sizes)

Mid 2010: ~151lbs. Size unknown - relied on stretchy things because I was in denial.

    January 2012: ~145lbs (14 in shirts, 14-16 in jeans). Started netting 1,200 - 1,300 calories/day and going for walks.

July 2012: ~135lbs (12 in shirts, 12-14 in jeans). Started going on long brisk walks and occasionally jogging.

September 2012: ~125lbs (10 in shirts, 10-12 in jeans). Started toning up using workout DVDs and netting 1,400 - 1,600 calories/day.

Now: ~119lbs (8 in shirts, 8-10 in jeans).

My goal weight is 112lbs, by which point I will hopefully be a loose 8 in shirts and comfortable 8 in jeans. My goal is to also decrease my body fat percentage to 18% by way of toning up.

Wow you are all so inspiring.

I was 137.5lbs about 4 months ago, not really lost anything from working out 5 times a week and eating fairly healthy. Have put on 6lb over Christmas by eating just what I wanted and now that I have more to lose I'm hoping it might be easier. I must notice a change when I start to watch what I eat, if not then I really am doing something wrong. I would be happy at 130 which I think is a healthy weight for me.

It is my 40th in May which is my goal, to be fit at forty (for the first time ever, being 40 and fit that is lol).

I will be taking photos tomorrow which is the first time for weight loss.
  • I'm 5'5" and 52 years old.

Starting weight on April 2nd: 215.8 I was wearing size 20 pants and 2X tops
Current weight: 151. I'm wearing between a 10 and a 12 in pants and usually a L in shirts (I'm not ready for tight tops)
Goal: I'm one pound from my original goal, but I'm currently working on revising that because I realize that I can do much more. In the short term, I do want to get down to 140--then I will have lost over 1/3 of my start weight. Then...who knows?

I'm 5'5 and 40 years old. I started here about 2 years ago at 160 pounds, but since it was December, I didn't have any real before photos in a bathing suit. I got to my goal weight in 6 months, then lost a little more, then gained a little back while strength training.

    fb-cover.jpg

I follow IIFYM (if it fits your macros) which means I'll eat pretty much what I want, as long as I reach my nutrition goals. I still have pizza, pasta, bagels, bread, baked potatoes, rice, etc. I'm currently eating about 2300 calories a day to maintain.

    For exercise, I run 3x a week (about 10-15 miles a week) and lift weight s 3x a week (Stronglifts 5x5).

I'm 5'5" and have been maintaining since about July so it took me about 8 months to get there.

    SW: 168
GW: 133 (what I weighed when I got married almost 10 years ago)
    CW: 122 (size 4)

You can do this:). Get back on the wagon and we will be here to support you!
  • i'm 5'3" but i started at 178 size 12 now down to 147-149 and size 6-8 almost at my year mark on here. I have a medium build so ill always be athletic and curvy...
  • It has been a long, slow journey here! I'm 5'5 and 43 years old.

    Starting: 9/2011, 172
    Current: 12/2012, 142
    Goal: 130

I've gone from a size 14 to a size 8, and I've lost 8 inches around my waist. For the first year, I did it almost entirely on WW, through diet, but not exercise.

Since August, 2012, I've started very slowly adding in exercise, and I'm now up to 30 min of cardio/day, plus moderate, at-home strength training (squats, sit-ups, and push-ups). Next summer, I'm going to do a triathlon! So the training will obviously be kicking up a notch soon.

I'm 5'4", 34 and i've been on MFP for 130 days. This is my first real attempt at weight loss.
Start Weight- 194 (snug size 16, XL)
    Current Weight - 164 (loose 14, M/L)
I put 2 pounds back on since Christmas, but I'm hoping to get to -35 pounds by mid January for my 35th birthday.
I'm not sure what my ultimate goal is. 120-140 is a good range, but I think I'd like to be in single digit pants. I can live with a size 8. Judging by my family tree, I'm not meant to be a size 2.
  • I'm 5'5 1/2. I started July 1, 2012 and lost 30lbs by October. I started off at 162 lbs and now weigh 125 as of this morning. It has taken me a while to lose the last 7lbs, but I lost the 30lbs fairly fast and easily.

I didn't exercise. Just changed my food choices & practiced portion control.

Check out my low calorie recipe blog on Tumblr:

I'm the QUEEN OF 300 CALORIE MEALS! :)

Good luck in your journey! It's so worth it!

Don't sell yourself short. I am not a small build, no one ever looks at me and calls me tiny, I'm broad shoulder, solid bone, good "German" build.

I lost weight, to what I thought was a goal weight, then did p90x, then insanity. I'm now a runner. I didn't set out to lose more weight, but I did, but what I really lost were inches and sizes. Never say never.

    I’m 5’4”.
SW: 156 and size 10 (I had a lot of belly fat though!)
CW: 122 and size 4 (some 2’s though and one of my 4’s is starting to get baggy!)
GW: 115 or 18% BF, whatever comes first

I eat 1500 calories a day and I do pilates, dance, and HIIT. I just joined a gym though so I am going to start some lifting!

Oops, to answer your question, it has taken me 8 months to get to this point. I'm hoping to reach my goal before spring break!
  • I'm 5'3.5 lol. Start weight was 221 and I'm currently at 170. I have been as low as 162 but put a few pounds back. This weight loss took probably 10 months or so. My ultimate goal is 145 and I will then reassess. Feel free to add me if you'd like some additional support :) Great job so far :flowerforyou:

Thank you ladies! You are so accountable for your actions and now it is time for me too. I am currently 5'6' and 143. I have been having problems with degenerative disc issues lately but that is no excuse. My goal is to lose 13 lbs. I want to lose 1 lb per week and increase my strength. I love running and cardio but certainly need more work with strength training. I will post pictures soon.
