1700 calories a day. how did it work for you?

Hi, is there anyone who has done 1700 calories and had great success? Answers from Those who have done this calorie intake per day would be most helpful. How much did you lose per week? How much per month?

    I am 5'9", started in September at 220 lbs and am currently at 197. I eat more like 1800 calories a day and exercise 5-6 times a week.

    I do a mix of cardio classes like spin, step and kick boxing, along with weight training and canoeing.

    I have averaged 1.5 lbs per week (ish), haven't been hungry and feel great. What else would you like to know?

    Well it depends on your height and weight. I've been doing it for a couple of months and I've had success. I'd probably have more if it weren't for the holidays. My intake is 1730 cals and I eat back about 75% of my exercise calories...so on those days I might eat up to 2000 cals. I've lost about .5 to 1lb a week. I'm hoping after the new year, without all the temptation, I can loose a 1lb a week more consistently. BTW I'm 5'7" and currently 199lbs.

    I tried the 1200 cals and not eating back my exercise calories...it worked at first and I lost a lot of weight quickly, but I was always starving and eventually the weight stopped coming off and I plateaued for almost a year until I upped my calorie intake.

    There isn't a set calorie # that'll work for everyone. Your calorie intake is going to depend on your height, weight and activity level.

    I gain weight eating 1700 calories a day. 1500-1600 net seems to have me losing about 1.5-2.0 pounds per week. But I am only 5'1 1/2" so that might have something to do with it. I also exercise 3 to 5 days a week, sometimes 6 days.

    5'7'', I've been around 1800 calories since joining MFP.
    I have lost 22 pounds, with an average of 1 lbs/week or more, but with bad weeks and good weeks.
    I don't exercise as often as I would like, but I try to walk, use stairs, be quite often busy around the house. In my good weeks I exercise a total of 2 hours.

    Height, activity level and current weight are very important. I'm currently somewhere under 190 lbs. At 130 lbs, 1800 calories would probably be my maintenance calorie.

    Glad I could help! BTW definitely read the article Joylia posted "road map 2.0". That's what I used to help me figure out how many cals I needed to eat >>>2000 cals. ( I personally use the 1730 level on MFP bc I mentally need to see my cals burned...keeping track of workouts helps motivate me and it ends up being the same at the end).

    The best success is not in some nebulous number but whatever number is best for you given your gender, weight, activity level...ect....
    MFP calculates this for you.
    Roll with that number - whatever it is....

    It worked for me! I recommend to read this. I lost 28 lbs this year. I am 5'3 and 130 (maintaining). The whole idea of TDEE and cutting changed my thinking completely. Good luck!

    I'm eating 1,500-1,700 and it's working really well for me! It totally depends on how active you are. I'm using a BodyMedia armband and I just make sure that I have a deficit of 1,000. When I burn 2520 throughout the day, I eat 1520. When I burn 2900, I eat 1900. My calories are never the same, but I'm still losing 1 or 2 lbs/week :)

    Calorie intake is based on your BMR, active burn, etc. Its different for everyone.

    Im eating tdee minus 500 at the moment, so 1700cals, Im at 1366 today as im not hungry and struggled to eat today. Iv used the road map post and put activity as 1-3 days a week as I try to average 3 days work outs, done one today, aiming for 4 this week. Iv lost on this plan and even on heavy eating days not gone past my maintance of about 2200 calories. Maintance at 126lbs for me would be about 1900cals which should be easy
