I am just starting to do a mix of cardio and weights at the moment - Will the weights hold back weight loss?

That is not a stupid question...
I lose more pounds when I am doing cardio alone and forget the weight or strengthening exercise. However, I lose much more in size when I am doing weights/strengthening and going light on the cardio. Which would you rather do? I have not lost a pound in months and months, but I have gone down another whole size in clothes.0 -
If you are eating at a caloric deficit, weights will help with weight/fat loss. Lifting by itself does not add mass. Lifting in a caloric surplus will help develop more muscle - the caloric surplus adds weight.0

Weight loss? yes. The wight training will help you retain the muscle you would otherwise lose. As a result, a greater percent of your weight loss will actually be fat.
In return, you will have a faster metabolism than if you had lost that muscle and a better build.
So it is a better quality of weight loss.0 -
Sometimes people tend to eat more when they weight train however just stick to a decent calorie intake and you'll be fine :flowerforyou:0

Thanks Guys! I'm not eating anything in particular or special etc ... Just keeping it very simple but trying to add a lot more protein by eating more Tuna and eggs etc. I am also considering getting the whey powder shakes as well to help with the weight training.
Any guidelines for the weight training in terms of how many days a week? I'd lift every day, but keep reading it should be no more than 5 with at least 2 days rest ...0
