Was a bit down yesterday as I found out I'm heavier than I thought I was:

20th December - 16 st 3 lb / 103.4 kg
28th December - 16 st 10 lb / 106.5 kg
31st December - 17 st 3 lb / 109.4 kg

This is on the scales in Boots (Chemists), I think it's been recalibrated though as it used to have a voice telling you to stay still and upright and the body fat monitor doesn't work even though I put enough money in.

Bought some scales and weighed myself at home naked - 17st 0 lb / 108.1 kg

I have ate and drank a lot more than usual but did manage runs of 5 (Outdoor), 4 and 4.5 miles on the 26th, 27th and 28th.

So have I put on at least 11 lbs since the 20th or do you think the scales were wrong?

I think it sounds suspicious, especially since the scale is reacting differently. I would just continue on with the scale you just purchased.

Since you've noticed changes with the scale, I'd say it's likely that they have been messing with it. Use the scale you bought as a starting point, keep it on a level surface, and don't move it around. I doubt you've gained that much weight, but weight can fluctuate with amount of water intake and other things.

I agree with the other posters, just continue with the scale you purchased.

Nonetheless, it still plays with your head. I've been tempted to just NOT get on the scale for the rest of the month. Funny, I can log my food, work out for 60 minutes every day, stay away from food temptations...but can't stay away from the scale. What's up with that?!!!

The scales could be wrong. Don't panic, and from now on just go with the scales you've purchased. Bear in mind also that if you've been eating a lot more than usual, you will probably be retaining quite a lot of water due to increased carbohydrate and sodium consumption. I don't know if the running was out of the ordinary too, but if so, an increase in the exercise you do can also make you retain water as your muscles repair themselves. You might find that some of the weight comes off fairly quickly as you return to normal. And even if not, at least you have a more accurate picture of where you're at now.

I usually run on the treadmill 5 days a week, 6 miles a day.

The annoying thing about buying the scale will be trying to avoid using it all the time, when I first started I only weighed every 2 weeks and now usually only on Fridays.
