The one you listed has senna (among other ingredients). Senna is a stimulant laxative. Just making sure you're aware of that. Sometimes folks aren't.0

This pretty much sums up my thoughts on them:

I'll expand a bit: I think they're based upon "new age" junk science, serve no purpose and are a total waste of money. Not only that, but I think screwing with the intestinal flora balance in your colon is a bad idea and is more likely to harm than help.0 -
I should add, I want to do it because my system hasn't been running smoothly despite proper amounts of fibre intake.0

Laxative diets will give stunning results because the human body processes a certain amount of food over time, and there are a few pounds in many of our digestive systems. The purge gets all of that out quickly, but as soon as you eat again the weight comes back. How well do you like camping in the bathroom?0

Eat fiber and drink water.
That's all the "cleansing" your colon needs.0 -
Your body cleanses itself naturally..just to let you know.
This colon detox diet just has Fail written all over it..lol.0 -
Buy a lot of toilet paper ?
On a serious note I know a couple people who have done a colon detox and they said it made them feel great. I have thought about doing it myself.0 -
The best colon detox is water diet and cardio0

My daughter has issues with chronic constipation which has caused her kidney reflux. She has done flushes to get the old stuff out. You would be surprised how long it takes a person to clear out their colon after a bout of constipation. You can accomplish a flush with Miralax. Stimulant laxatives can cause problems if you are constipated and do not do anything to soften things up.0 -

what is your definition of proper amounts of fiber?
http://www.livestrong.com/article/396538-how-much-fiber-should-you-have-in-your-diet/
Males from 14-50 should look to get about 38g daily.
Women from 14-50 should look to get about 25g daily.
"These recommendations are based on evidence indicating that consuming at least 14 g of fiber for every 1,000 calories results in a significantly decreased risk of heart disease." (quoted from the website link provided)0 -

Fibre is not the only relevant factor in a healthy digestive transit. Look at your total food bulk, water intake, fats, minerals, physical activity levels, sugar/ refined carbs, prebiotics. Senna will probably clean you out, but it's not exactly the most gentle solution, will only give you temporary relief, and should not be used regularly except under medical supervision. If you are confident your entire diet is in order and you are still chronically constipated consult your doctor, there might be an undiagnosed health issue. If constipation is a one off related to Xmas eating/ alcohol dehydration speak to a qualified pharmacist about the most appropriate over the counter laxative for you, 'detoxing' is not a medical treatment it's a sales pitch.0 -
Well, your diary is locked, but I would suggest you get 3 or 4 servings of fruit and start eating Greek yogurt and drinking kefir. I make a smoothie out of all that together every day. Since I have been doing that, I am very regular, and have 2 to 3 good sized daily reliefs… I use Chobani yogurt & Lifeway's kefir. Between the two products, you get 15 different typse of good probiotic bacteria that greatly aid in your problems, and help you digest and absorb your nutrients, and fight off bad bacteria and viruses and strengthen the immune system. Not sure if the detox products are actually good for you or not, but this will do the job in a healthy, better way with a lot of great side effects.0

Also, if indigestion is also part of the problem, I did a little experiment with aloe flesh a couple months ago. I bought a large plant and took one of the leaves. I cut roughly square inch chunks of the flesh and added one to my smoothie each day. I did this because I knew that aloe juice was supposed to aid with fixing that particular problem (reflux). It worked. I did it for 9 days, and it cleared up as well. It is not something to use in a prolonged way. If you try it, do not go over 2 weeks with it.0

Try taking probiotics instead. Flushing your system with a cleanse will make your situation worse, as it flushes out the gut bacteria out that is necessary for healthy digestion, and it will take a while to get it back to normal levels, leaving you constipated again and wanting another flush for relief. Instead, try fixing the problem. Try probiotics, and if that doesn't work you may need to try and identify if you have any food intolerances causing the problem.
PS. A lot of fiber supplementing foods, such as fiber one bars, are made with chicory root, which many people react badly to. If your proper amount of fiber is coming from those sources, I would eliminate that right away.0 -

don't be a sucker0 -
I would talk to your dr because if you research the ingredients in those flushes there are some pretty serious side effects. If you do it and it works for a short period of time and then re-do it your body slowly stops doing it naturally and you will have to rely on those flushes and laxatives to keep you functioning.
Personally I would drink more water and try eating cleaner if you are having digestion issues.0 -

How much fat are you getting a day?0 -
My doctor warned me that senna could do PERMANENT damage to the colon. I would avoid that stuff like the plague.0

"The procedure, sometimes called colonic irrigation or colonic hydrotherapy, often involves use of chemicals followed by flushing the colon with water through a tube inserted in the rectum. It has ancient roots, but was discredited by the American Medical Association in the early 1900s, yet colon cleansing has staged a comeback.
"There can be serious consequences for those who engage in colon cleansing whether they have the procedure done at a spa or perform it at home," says the paper's lead author, Ranit Mishori, M.D., a family medicine physician at Georgetown University School of Medicine. "Colon cleansing products in the form of laxatives, teas, powders and capsules with names such as Nature's Bounty Colon Cleaner tout benefits that don't exist." She also says it's important to remember the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has no authority to monitor these products.
Mishori and her colleagues examined 20 studies published in the medical literature published in the last decade. She says that while these reports show little evidence of benefit, there is an abundance of studies noting side effects following the use of cleansing products including cramping, bloating, nausea, vomiting, electrolyte imbalance and renal failure."0 -

Which kind of fiber...there are several...and what's the rest of your diet like? Eat lots of different fresh Veg? Have enough fats? The problem is likely that you're missing something in your diet or you are having to much of something. The body does a pretty good job at detoxing itself. No need for adult diapers, they just add more weight to the scale.
Also I've seen a news bit on the colon clensing stuff before and there was some type of colon doctor interviewed that basically said the people promoting this stuff are crazy. He said he's never seen anything stuck in a colon, and that there is no need to 'clense' it that way. He seemed kind of boggled that people bother doing this. It was kind of funny.0 -
