Hello. I've been in a slump lately when it comes to exercise. I'm a person that needs constant change in exercise routines. Can anyone suggest exercise to me that will help with my endurance levels. I'm going to an event this September where we'll have to run a 5k (cringe). Anything you'll send my way will be helpful. Thanks!

Try some HIIT and Tabata routines. C25K is also a great program. Jillian Michaels DVD's provide some variance and aren't too expensive. Rotate through the cardio machines at your gym and do something different everyday. Do bodyweight exercises. Lift things up and put them down. Try yoga or pilates. The options are endless really.

I found an exercise online from a person who was training for a 5k. She says she did it twice a week and lost 8 pounds in one week! Now I don't know if thats true or not, but I did do this workout today and it just about killed me! It is a treadmill workout, so obviously this is irrelevant if you don't have access to one.

    1 minute at 5.0
    1 minute at 5.5
    1 minute at 6.0
    1 minute at 6.5
    1 minute at 7.0
    1 minute at 7.5
    1 minute at 8.0
    2 minutes at 4.5
repeat 5 times (I only got through 2!)

I am still quite out of shape and haven't been running but a month, so it's no surprise i only got through 2 rounds, but this still is a kick butt workout doing whatever you can of it!

I've been using the Kinect Zumba and Kinect Adventures for my work outs. Still can't do much, but I do see an improvement (baby steps). And they seem to be varied. But like the comment about the treadmill, kind of invalid if you don't have access to one. However, on the positive side, there are many zumba classes offered in most cities.

Thanks, these are worth a shot. I just thank the big man upstairs that the event is in 9 months!

Good idea! There's a Zumba class right after my Karate class on Mondays. Definitely gonna try it.
