I like your list and the idea of crossing off an item for each pound I have come with a few others for myself.

So when my husband and I hike I’m not red faced and out of breathe
So I can fit in my Kayak again
So I can get rid of my fat cloths
So I can walk proudly next to my husband knowing he has a good looking wife
So when other women look at my husband they don’t think why is he with that fatty

Those are great affirmations, and we should have those for every area of our life.
Why are we doing...XYZ in relation to our money, relationships, spirit, career, education and yes, health.
All of these items are connected.
Our whole purpose in life is to live well and be happy.
And it's a choice we make by virtue of our actions.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but #156 doesn't happen with weight loss. Once stretch marks are there, they're not going anywhere.

Also, #33 has nothing to do with weight. You either have cellulite, or you don't. You can reduce it's appearance, but if you're genetically predisposed to it, there's not much you can do.

Now that I think of it, a number of those have little to do with weight loss, but oh well.

    Best of luck.

Now that I'm closer to my original goal and no one would look at me and say I'm fat anymore, I've set new goals both in weight and fitness because...

    1. I really mostly want to remain youthful looking. People who look much younger than their age are quite often fit.

    2. I want my body to match an active lifestyle. I don't like sitting for 8 hours behind a desk and then forcing myself to exercise later. I want my life to actually BE active instead of fitting activity in. I'm even looking to change careers or work it into the one I have now to accommodate this desire.

    3. I want to dress to reflect my personality, not dress to wear what doesn't call attention to the parts of me that need work.

    4. I live in south Florida; I want to be able to wear swimsuits without feeling like the Michelin Man.

I didn't ask for any negativity in regards to this post... These are things that I personally struggle with, whether you do or not. The fact is, with my weight, these probems ARE NOT going anywhere... therefore, they made it on my list because I DO STRUGGLE WITH THESE.

I thought this was a place for support? Not nit-picking and correcting.

Have you ever had stretch marks? Even if they dont go away completely they still can shrink significantly and for anyone who has stretch marks would be greatful for even that. With the cellulite, sure it may not go away completely as well but like you said you can reduce the apperance which is another great victory for those who may have it. The list she has provided is related to weight loss in their own ways and is very encouraging. People who have more weight on them can relate to many of these situations/feelings/ etc and when loosing the weight they notice these day to day changes. Everyone is different and these suggestions may reach out more to one person than another. This site is to be encouraging and supportive so why not try that when you reply. Thank you to the poster of this thread, I have even considered printing it off for motivation :)

    Wait...what??

Umm...you realize you quoted someone who has already lost 134 lbs, right? "People who have more weight on them can relate..." I'm sure that the person you quoted can relate to everything anyone else who has been overweight can relate to, but she can also relate to those who have lost it as well.

Pointing out a couple of facts is in NO way de-motivating...facts are facts, that's it. There's no sense in trying to hide facts with rainbows and ponies...just to make people feel better about themselves.

This site is to be encouraging and supportive so why not try that when you reply. And isn't that a bit of irony, you quote/correct someone for quoting and correcting, and yet you get to say something about being encouraging and supportive. Irony anyone?

PS: Have a Happy New Year!!

What happened to 'if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all'?

Different things work for different people, advice is great, negativity for most people isn't.

Good luck to you and everyone else on their journey, if it works for you go with it!
