Saving calories for weekend?

I just started here at MFP - refugee from WW. One of the things I liked on WW was that you had 'flex points' that you could use throughout the week in addition to your usual daily allowance. I generally saved these for the weekend and used them for wine, bigger breakfast, dinners out, etc. I don't see how I can do this on MFP and feel that I do need to allow myself splurges at least once each week. My normal daily calories are 1200 so there is little room for any splurges if I keep to that every single day.

Or do I just not eat my activity calories and 'save' them for the weekend?

I calorie cycle so meaning I save some of my calories I earned thru working out for days where I might eat out or struggle to stay within my goal. It will still show ya in the red for the day but no big deal. Its worked for me so give it a try.

I have days where I"m over and days when I'm under...I don't worry about it so long as my weekly net is within my goals. Very occasionally I will be over my goals for the week, but still at an overall deficit so it hasn't hindered my weight loss.
  • WW victim, er user in the past and I feel for ya. What I ended up deciding is giving myself a 'me' day. On this day (planned according to event such as going to the bar or dinner with the extended family), I allow myself to just do whatever I like.

The whole week I keep tight portion controls, pay attention, be a good girl and log bla bla bla. But on that day, I keeps portion control in mind, but allow myself to just accept the fact that I'm not eating a 'modified' meal. Just good old fashioned common sense when putting it in my mouth. I use my tricks, such as water then alcohol, then water, then alcohol... looking at the food (ingredients) and deciding 'is this good for me right now or have I had too much already and should back off the mashed potatoes in favor of green beans'.

At some point, I figure, we wont have our little tallies and will have to go out on our own. These days are practice while in progress. Using the tools we learn for our selves and going 'freestyle'. The worst that will happen is that you'll have a bad check in. *shrug* Do better to yourself next time. In the end, you are the only one accountable for your results. Others are not going to do it for you :)
